FSU Fall 2012 TRANSFER accepted/denied stats

Hey guys, I was interested in finding out what types of students were accepted to the Fall 2012 term at FSU as a TRANSFER not freshman. Not interested in EC's or test scores, simply major and GPA. Thanks! (Some additional news I found out from admissions, if you are transferring with an AA degree, the GPA requirement is 2.0 not 3.0)

I'll start...

MAJOR: Biochemistry
GPA: 3.15 (rough semester previously)
AA DEGREE YES/NO/TO BE COMPLETED: To be completed end of Summer A at FGCU
SCHOOL TRANSFERRING FROM: FIU & FGCU
ACCEPTED/DENIED/PENDING: Pending, my account is on hold until they receive my final grades for Spring term.

MAJOR: Criminology (due to milestones, switching to business)
GPA: 3.34
AA: NO
SCHOOL TRANSFERRING FROM: Kennesaw State University
ACCEPTED

Hey bmaze, when were you accepted?? Congrats!

Last Monday, I know I am excited to go in the fall!

Bmaze, were you forced to switch majors?

Yeah I was forced to switch majors

MAJOR: History
GPA: 2.54 (dropped out of CC right after high school without dropping classes and when I went back 20 years later 2 of the classes were no longer available to retake)
AA DEGREE: Yes
SCHOOL TRANSFERRING FROM: TCC
ACCEPTED/DENIED/PENDING: Pending (Status reads right now as: Your application has been reviewed by the Office of Admissions and has been referred to the appropriate academic representative for review.)

Keep us posted Trackey  I am still waiting to hear back… Mine does not say it has been reviewed yet… They are still waiting to receive transcripts…in the meantime, I was accepted to FIU for Summer and have been taking classes there and found that I really love it!..So I am not sure what I’ll do if I get into state. I hear FSU is a great school (academically ) but never hear anything about the surrounding area or friendliness of the people…we will see :)

Well I can tell you as someone who has lived pretty much my entire life in Tallahassee that it is a pretty nice little city. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have about the area.

im still waiting as well.

trackey - i lived in gainesville for almost 10 years and i love it there. is tallahassee comparable ? i get the feeling its more of a “real city,” as opposed to mostly a college town, since its the capitol and all. is the community nice ? the people in general ? like in gainesville i find the people to be way nicer in general then where i live now, south florida.

Eileen- im glad you like FIU so much! i live about 45 mins north and i still havent visited the campus. i was accepted though and am considering attending in the fall, but still waiting for FSU and UCF. some things ive heard about FIU are that its tough being in the city with traffic and all, and that many students dont care as much as students at the more acclaimed florida schools. i really want to visit and get a feel for it, because i think going to school in miami can be neat in a way. right now i think id prefer tallasassee though. we will see.

The community is very nice around here. (Just like most towns you have your not so nice areas but they are easy to avoid.) Tallahassee is also very very supportive of FSU. Our down town get downs on Friday nights before home football games are a blast and always have a great turn out. It has a very home town feel to it, that a big city just can’t ever have.

I’m a History major as well and applied for Summer term and was accepted we have similar stats. I had a poor GPA at Community College b/c I started off horribly, but had an upward trend and ended up w/ a 2.68 GPA.
It’s not a limited access major so as long as you have above a 2.0 and show an upward trend I see no reason why you wouldn/t get in.

Good luck!

Big, FIU is amazing! The people are so inviting and the culture is so rich… Everyone there considers themselves pre-law or pre-med…but not sure how many actually make it lol… There are a lot of intelligent students there and highly qualified professors… I don’t know much about Miami, I live in Naples and make the drive across state every day…very exhausting but I can’t move over there until I hear back from state and central…

Thanks! Out of curiosity, once you had your application in, how long did it take before you found out you were accepted?

@Trackey
I submitted everything by the 2nd week of January and heard on the 22nd or 23rd of February.
After they said they sent it to the department for review I think it took less than 2 weeks.

Sent from my iPhone using CC

Thanks. It’s been right at a week since it went to the department for review so hopefully not to much longer. The waiting is the worst part, hehe.

^ yeah the waiting drove me crazy, lol.
Oh, I just had my first day at class yesterday and my professor for my Eastern Euro class is awesome. I love being here!

Mine hasn’t even gone to the bio dept for review yet… I’m right there with ya on the waiting game! :)

Major: Applied Economics

GPA: 3.52

Transferring from: Palm Beach State College/Edison State College

I have been accepted, will receive my AA degree after Summer A.

Congrats BT! When did you find out??
