FSU Film School

I thought I would make a thread for prospective students, current students and applied students at FSU's Film School. I'm not sure how many of you are on this site, I guess I'll find out...

Are there any applicants still waiting to hear back since their interview?

I had my interview on March 7th, 2010.

In the case that I do not get into the film school, I will not be admitted to the university either... : /

A friend (well, ex-friend) got rejected. But he shows up to school late everyday and seems like he’s stoned out of his mind any time you talk to him… and he probably was during his interview.

He got rejected from the film school? Did he apply this year?

Yeah, he applied this year. He got into UCF though.

my friend applied to the film school last year. he applied early, so he was accepted to fsu in december. however, he did not receive an interview and was rejected from the film school. he decided to go to fsu anyways. during the fall semester, he spent A LOT of time volunteering for the film school students there, and they put in a good word for them, so he received an interview this year. i think his interview is march 24th.
from what he has told me, only 18 of 500+ applicants were offered interviews. and out of those 18, only 6 will be accepted.

@Dnerd - That’s strange that he heard back from them so soon. The interviews for freshman were only 2 weeks ago… We are supposed to hear from the film school end march/early april…

@ariel - I was planning on doing the same if I don’t get in, but I can’t since the University doesn’t want me…

good luck to your friend!

What do you mean so soon? He found out last month, and he applied back in October.

2000 apply and only 50-60 interview. So if you did not land an interview you were declined. Anyone who did not get an interview knew they were declined by Jan or Feb. Dnerr’s friend likely did not get an interview and that is how he knew early. I believe the accept 25 freshman and 5-6 transfer students (including those who transfer in from FSU).

Yeah I know the statistics thats why I was wondering when Dnerd said his friend interviewed… FSU is basically my last shot (also my first choice). I applied to Emerson (I dont really want to go there.) and got waitlisted… Im still waiting to hear back from USC, but I have a strong gut feeling that I’m rejected… I will cry either way.

has anyone heard if they got into undergrad film school at FSU yet? I know Grad students have heard. my son’s interview was March 7th also and he has not heard anything by phone email or letter in mail, going nuts

did you hear anything yet?

I went on my FSU portal and it said they were not offering me admission at this time. So i guess I got rejected. No college for me this fall…

Hey, don’t be down. You should apply to some other school! Try UCF, they’re still accepting applications until May 1st :)

I suggest calling Ms. Howard. She will tell you their decision.
Good luck!

I heard the are letting students know April 15th

my friend that applied as a sophomore found out on the 7th that he was accepted to the film school.so i guess everyone else should know soon

I was accepted on April 7, so I think by April 15, they will make final decisions as to who accepted the invitation and who denied and were then replaced by alternates.

Wow - tough competition!

Good luck to all and congrats to the accepted students. Being one of the few admitted is really something.

My son has still not heard from the film school and it is April 24. Does anyone know when FSU plans on letting the students know whether they have been accepted or not.
