@liberty16 My son interviewed there and hasn’t heard anything yet. Anyone else hear back yet for the BFA? Good luck, Liberty16, and all the others out there waiting!

@monstermama Thanks for sharing & good luck to your son as well. This has been a looong process. Hopefully we’ll hear soon. My daughter said that she heard April…but does that mean Apr 1 or Apr 15 or later…any ideas anyone? are all interviews complete?

I believe we had already heard back by this time last year, but overall the process was earlier last year as well. If all interviews are over, they most likely contact the 20 individuals pretty much at the same time, but then they give them a week or so to come back with final yes or no on as to whether they are accepting the spot. If no, then they would probably contact person number 21 on their list, so it could take a little time if you are not one of the first 20 picks. Have your kids go out on twitter - that’s where they were telling each other right away last year, but some kids didn’t communicate at all through social media until later in the summer. Best of luck to all…if you have any other questions, let me know and I will try to answer and/or check with my son.

My son said they were told at the end of the interview that they would hear back in late March or early April and that there would be acceptances, denials, and possibly a short list of waitlisted. Best of luck!

@monstermama thank you for the info! is your son a transfer or a freshman applicant?

@thejas My son is a freshman applicant. Are you a transfer? He hasn’t heard anything as of this morning.
@rockrprincess & @Liberty16 & and all others viewing…Did anyone else hear back yet?
Hoping you all get good news !!

Yes, I am a transfer. I had my interview on march 16, I haven’t heard back yet either. I think it’s still early for transfer applicants though, they should be notifying students next week. I hope we all get good news! :)

Good Luck to everyone. As mentioned in previous post, my son is currently freshman and has already enjoyed volunteering on upperclassman films, viewing films, and getting to know everyone. Any questions, let me know.

Still haven’t heard back either, I was starting to worry because there are no more business days in March and I was told if we were first choices, we would know by March, and in April if we were wait listed…
Hopefully they’re just taking their time :)

Rockprincess they told my interview group that we would hear late march or early april, and no one from my group has heard anything, so at this point I don’t think it has anything to do with being wait listed, no one has heard back.

Does anybody know how we hear back though… email, phone call, etc.? It doesn’t really matter, I know they will get ahold of you, I’m just not sure what to be looking for.

Last year it was by email.

okay great thanks, just curious!

sure; no problem. Best of Luck:)

Hey everyone! Just a quick question: I was recently admitted to FSU for this upcoming Fall as a Freshmen and due to the fact that I missed the Film Production deadline (because I was very busy preparing my other portfolios) I was wondering if after one year at FSU it would be possible to apply as a transfer into film production? I would already be a student there. And if not after a year, when’s the earliest I can transfer? Thanks for the help in advance!

I got accepted into FSU as a Psychology major by the way. So again, after one year would it be possible to transfer and if accepted, switch major to Film Production?

yes, but as I said in the other thread, you can only apply as a transfer once which would be this October(same deadlines as year before I believe; maybe slightly different for transfers), but they only choose ten kids from that “pool”, and not sure how many apply as transfers; I would assume preference may be given to students already at FSU rather than another school, but I have seen students on here say they got the interview as a transfer and they are not currently at FSU, so it really depends on your competition that particular year. If you would be happy with FSU as a psychology major if the film thing doesn’t work out, then go for it. Before we went through the process I do remember some of the current film students saying that if applying as a transfer, do alot of volunteering as a freshman and get to know some of the professors, etc. during that year in the program if you can; they couldn’t say “officially” that it would help your chances, but they were saying it definitely couldn’t hurt. Get really good grades your first year and write a really good essay as part of your application along with the voluneering, but nothing is guaranteed… good luck.

And the wait continues…Has anyone heard back yet?
Does anyone know what the reasoning is for waiting this long? (USC, NYU, Emerson, Chapman, and all others released days to weeks ago.) I believe the freshman group finished interviewing a month ago today.
With accepted student days at other colleges this month, we cannot keep postponing making travel plans…

@monstermama we are feeling the same strain…the waiting game has been very trying… I wonder if some of the students have decided to go with other options simply to avoid the stress of waiting. I wish the film school had “a date” in mind. Hopefully patience will pay off for all of us.

I would give them a call, and explain about the travel arrangements, etc. They are very nice; last year was definitely earlier, so not sure what the hold up is. My son said they are also choosing the transfers right now as well who will join the current freshman to make the class of 30. Good Luck!!

I just saw on another film site blog that they sent out notifications for the MFA/graduate film program so I would assume the undergrads won’t be far behind.
