FSU Football - Florida State's Return

FSUDAD1-- yes, I saw that post on the Northwestern board this a.m.
Pretty interesting. Purple Book Cat is a long time poster and was correct
regarding B1G’s interest in Nebraska and their eventual offer.

He is said to have an inside source close to the commish Delaney. He admits
that he may be fed information that is meant to be inaccurate, accurate, and/or
self serving to the B1G home office located in Chicago. I am not sure the
reason for this “leak”. The B1G has been publicly silent regarding changes in
conference landscape saying just “we’re happy with our 12 schools” since
Nebraska came on board.

Let me offer one really far out theory spinning off the content in the Memo of
Intent. How about, Texas and Oklahoma involve themselves in setting up a 14
school Big 12/14 so the dwarfs are taken care of-- especially TT and Okie. This
must be done for the politicos in the State of Texas and Oklahoma. After this
is done, they bolt to the B1G to be with their “kind” – big flagship research
schools. At this time we begin to hear the Thunder, and yes Notre Dame comes
on board. To satisfy Notre Dame either Rutgers or Boston College fills out
the 16th school for East coast BTN TV marketing.

And, that is all.

ps- Unfortunately in my mind is that Northwestern now really gets
the H**L beat out of it on the football field. We may have to go
the University of Chicago route and just be CIC members.

bn12gg- In the interest of full disclosure, I read that post this morning myself. As the day went on I forgot that I read it here. lol

Sorry about that.

This message was emailed out this PM to all Seminole Boosters. We, as Seminoles, are proud to have a hospitable atmosphere for opposing teams and fans. :)

P2N— Some schools are known to treat others in their stadiums and
on campus in a first class manner. I would like to see FSU begin a movement
to follow up on this wonderful experience that the Oklahoma folks apparently
had. You and the FSU faithful should be proud. As you know, the SEC
experience can be quite the opposite.

Nebraska, the newest member of the B1G has for years been known as a
football fan experience hard to rival. They are just nice! Nice can pay off,
look where they are now.

Go 'Noles.

.02 David

Gotcha. Dropped from the AAU. FSU doesn’t need to be THAT nice!

Yes, but Nebraska has 5 (count them- FIVE) national championships
in football. They can block the off tackle dive play 12 different ways.
That has to count for something.

David

More fuel for the conference realignment fires, ND > ACC:

Enjoy!

P2N-- Thanks for the link. God I love those throw back
uniforms pictured. They played Michigan 2 weeks ago in
those uniforms.

David

ps- Notre Dame needs to get back to learning to block the
off tackle play.

pps- If Northwestern petitions the ACC for membership, can
we join as well?

P2N-- The PAC12 Commish Larry Scott yesterday stated that the
PAC12 is going to stand pat. Notre Dame will therefore stay independent.
If the PAC12 does not supersize to 16, there will be no playoff.

David

The ACC would be a great fit for ND and NW! The more the merrier.

Texas A & M is now formally a member of the SEC. The SEC now
has 13 members. Sooooo who makes it an even 14? TAMU begins
play 2012 so #14 must be announced soon.

FSU?

.02 David

Maybe Kentucky will leave SEC for ACC. Easier football, better basketball conference in ACC for Kentucky? SEC would be back to balanced 12 members without Kentucky.

It’s hard enough picking one horse at the horsetrack to show in money–anyone who can pick where all the colleges are going to end up is pretty good!

[Mark Story: It’s time for Kentucky to consider changing conferences | University of Kentucky Sports News | Lexington Herald-Leader](http://www.kentucky.com/2011/09/25/1895725/mark-story-its-time-for-kentucky.html)

FSU isn’t going to leave the ACC. Why would they have just approved the increase on the ACC buyout fee if they were going to leave?

And why leave a conference they have a good chance of winning on a nearly yearly basis for one they will likely be lucky to just finish midpack?

Not approving it would have raised immediately flags that we were looking to depart.

Dr. Barron played a huge role in having the increased buyout only go up to 20 million. It was originally going to be 36 million. If leaving wasn’t a possible option for FSU, he would have gladly supported this, as we wouldn’t want other teams such as Clemson or VT leaving (thus ruining) the conference.

This is true, but I’m not sure FSU’s athletics can really afford the $20 million buyout. As everything gets cut budget wise (except for, it seems, athletics), I would think our AD would want to lay low for a while, so to speak.
