FSU Honors Program vs UF

Honors pretty much guarantees Landis. Gilchrist is the overflow if necessary.

They also get priority registration.

HONORS STUDENT EXCLUSIVE ADVANTAGES

All University Honors students are granted priority registration and are the first to register for classes each semester. Students may apply to live in Landis Hall, a premier honors-only residence hall in the middle of campus.

I am a UF graduate. My husband went to FSU.
FSU has been working very hard on the student experience and the Honors College. They are putting a lot of energy in to student success.
UF is a huge school. The classes your first 2 years are massive. You may never meet your professor. It’s definitely sink or swim. And because UF has the feeling that they are the Best and Brightest, it almost seems like they don’t have as many resources to ensure student success. As if advertising services and resources would somehow be admitting that all the students aren’t perfect.
Plus, in my experience, people at FSU just seem nicer and happier.

Due to priority registration & honors housing at FSU, FSU is the better choice as UF is overcrowded.

A concern to investigate: Due to overcrowding, could a 4 year program take 5 years to complete at UF.

OP if you haven’t already you should submit your FSU housing contract. They refund most of it if you decline. You should be assured Landis but better safe than sorry.

Yep - we submitted last year to UF ($25), UGA ($35) and FSU - I think $175 but got $125 back).

Got into all three - and wasted $110 but it was well worth the investment as a “just in case”.

You are spending a gazillion $ to go to college - so wasting housing money as a security blanket is just something that’s part of the necessary expense.

I got deferred from Harvard (EA)

But you’re down to UF vs. FSU.

Harvard, anyone else you’re waiting on?

As you are looking into both FSU and UF after the discussion the past few days, any thoughts?

I was accepted both FSU Honors Progran and UF
I’m waiting for the decision of Harvard RD (deferred means my application was not rejected but put in the RD pool) and other schools

My question is independent of my acceptance or not to other schools

and how are you leaning between the two?

Good

This is so true! My husband and I are UF graduates but our son goes to FSU. It is painful as a UF grad but FSU has been doing a great job the kids seem really happy and love their time there.
