FSU Honors Program

My son and I got up early this morning to see the results of his October 23rd ACT test. Last June he scored a 27 composite and that is the score that was submitted to FSU and
UF by the early decision deadline. After studying all summer, he scored a 30 composite (31 English, 29 Math, 31 reading and 28 science) and his goal has been to get into the FSU honors program. He is in top 10% of class, 10 AP courses and a 4.4 GPA. I've read on the website that invitations are sent out for the honors program about two weeks after general admission using the scores that were provided by the application deadline. Does that mean that his new scores will not be used? Will he have to petition for the honors program?

He has worked so hard to get his scores up, I'd hate to see it not count for anything. Anyone know how this process works?

Just have him email admissions alerting them to his new scores, and for them to be on the look out for the official notification. If he does not receive an invitation to honors, he can apply as well. They will take into account his new scores.

Thank you! I just sent the admission office and the honors program an email.

Start letting him send them, or send them from his email address. They really prefer to have the student communicate.

Oh they’ll definitely look at the new scores. I received my results in early December, and I emailed them letting them with my results. I think I got a call the day before Christmas that let me know I would receive the information sheets and sign up packet in January.

Do you mean for the Honors Program? That’s great news!

This is the email we got back from FSU admissions. Looks like he is good to go…

"Since you already have test scores on file by the October 15 deadline, we will allow the October or November scores to be used in the December 8 decision, provided you designated Florida State University as the score recipient. To verify their arrival, please use the online status check tool at <a href=“FSU Admissions | Error 404 page not found”>https://admissions.fsu.edu/StatusCheck/</a>.

Please feel free to contact us if you require additional information. "
