Does anyone have a rough estimate of how many fill out the honors application?
@amsunshine What is her number? From what I understand most kids in Honors end up in Landis or Gilchrest if they want it. Quite a few of the kids who put down deposits for housing end up not committing to FSU for a number of reasons so a really high number might not be as bad as you think .
I think my daughter put down Azalea and Magnolia as her other two choices. They are supposed to be very nice and fairly new dorms but I donāt think any Honors rooms or anything there.
I canāt remember where I saw it, but I thought I read that last year there were 2000 applicants, and they invite about 75 to attend the weekend interviews. So, assuming it is similar this year, those are very low odds of getting an invitation. Best wishes to everyone!
@amsunshine But those invitations are to interview for the Presidential Scholarship, correct? They accept more into Honors, Iām sure.
Oh, yes, you are very correct. My bad. I have Presidential Scholars on the brain.
Does anyone know when they will send out notifications about honors and the presidential scholarship? I know they said the first or second week of March, but has anyone heard a date?
Earlier in the blog, there was a lot of speculation that it would be tomorrow. Apparently the decisions came out on the first Tuesday over the past 2 years. A few others thought Thursday. Nothing concrete that Iāve seen. UF put out decisions last week, so some people think that FSU wont want to lag too long, for people who are trying to decide between the 2 schools.
How do I find the status of my application to the honors program? Where do I look? I
Has anyone heard anything? Please post if you get any news!
@Labgirl59 All the honors application stuff is seemingly kept within FluidReview, the website where you applied. To see the names and such everyoneās referring to, this link should work. Log in just like you did to apply and click on the application and scroll down.
We visited FSU a few days ago. One of the student leader ambassadors in honors voluntarily asked on our behalf and was told that the honors program emails would go out this Friday, March 6.
Iām not sure my daughter added any selection for housing yet. Was that an option? I recall that we put the deposit in and signed the contract, but Iām not sure that we saw anywhere that asked for preferences. If I missed it, will someone please tell me where to look just so she has options in case she isnāt selected for honors. Thanks!
@jloheac When we initially signed up for housing the preferences werenāt available, but they are now. My d is waiting to see about honors before she fills out the preference form. I think the window for selecting a roommate may be until March 23rd, something like that, but I think the window for selecting a dorm is even longer, not positive though.
Daughter visited FSU Monday and the tour guide was an honors student and she said she thinks decision day is Friday.
Do you guys happen to know if you can change your housing preferences once youāve filled them out? (Mine has her contract number, but hasnāt gone in and listed any preferences yet.?
@AlwaysLearn My daughter said that it looked like it could be changed and updated.
@janiemiranda Thank you!
Azalea is nice and new, and has the little food court downstairs, but the location of Landis seems better IMHO. My daughter is undecided at the moment.
I donāt like the idea of having to use the higher (worst) contract # if you mutually select a roommate. She got a good number, so now she has to choose which is more important to her: getting to choose a roomate or getting to choose the building. Itās all good, though!
Decisions are out.
S20 did NOT get admitted but the whole thing was odd. Portal showed an admittance and a checklist of everything he needed to confirm his spot. However, he received an email saying he was NOT admitted. The letter was correct and the portal incorrect. (I called.) Not really upset about the decision but a little surprised at the snafu. Oh, well! Congratulations to everyone admitted!
@janiemiranda Sorry, I missed your earlier response until now. My Dās number is 3153.
