So housing contract numbers have been posted. My son got 1612. Is this good? How high do the numbers go?
We got 3426, so 1612 sounds pretty good to me.
I got 1659, but the person I’m rooming with got 2252.
173 - we are pleased.
@Parman37. Lucky! You should go play lotto!
D got 313 - pretty pleased. Open to any roommate requests with numbers below 300 :-S
I read thatt there were almost 4000 contracts submitted during early window.
I saw that as well - not sure what they plan for but a fair number of those will not enroll so everyone should effectively move up some.
Got 1879 and my roommate got 1252. It’s kind crazy that they bump you to whatever the worst contract number is especially since it is a lottery process. It’s not like you had the opportunity to apply on the same date and time as your roommate so you would be closer together but oh well. FSU has over 6,700 rooms on campus with the majority reserved for new students. I think we will survive.
Maybe I’m obsessing a bit, but I calculate my son like this. He got 1612. 45% are male so that puts him at 725 for male rooms. 50% decline acceptances but I would estimate approximately 30% of those putting in contracts won’t attend. So that puts my son around 500 in line for male dorm room. Nothing on tv so my mind drifts. LOL
Daughter got 1369. Not too bad out of 4000. So at what point do they choose? And do they actually get a choice?
My son got 86. I can’t believe it. We don’t even know which ones to choose.
I got 3657 ._.
If you like new and nice, pick Azalea. It’s new this year and has a dining hall in the building.
I got 2831 I’m not shooting for the brand new dorms like Azalea or Magnolia but I am hoping to get into Landis (if I’m accepted for the Presidential Scholars program) or Gilchrist – with my contract number, do I stand a decent chance at those?
You know if their # is lower than yours, they bump to your #, right?
@Parman37 yes, they go with the roommate that has the highest number
@DadinOP Aren’t most of the dorms at FSU Co-ed (single gender by suite)? I’m not sure that your logic around “male rooms” is really valid.
@shortnuke the buildings are coed but the rooms (suites) are not. So clearly there are rooms that are assigned as male and those assigned as female. In looking at the stats over the years it appears that 45% of freshman classes are males. So it’s only logical that you multiple your contract number by 45% since you would only be in line with males not females. You can then multiple that number by 50% since you will be sharing a room (two contract numbers per room). This should give you an actual priority number factoring in your gender and the fact that suites are shared. If you really want to get fancy, multiple that number by 70% (I’m estimating) to account for students who put in contracts but wont attend (FSU is our second choice, we’ll know tomorrow when UF decides).
So would it be about 50/50 male female for Azalea and Magnolia? With only 921 spots is there much of a chance for my daughter if her number is 1369?
