Florida State is looking to hire faculty superstars.

From the Tallahassee democrat:

"We're in the recruiting process," said FSU President T.K. Wetherell of seeking additional eminent scholars at the university, which just reached a record 40,000-student enrollment. "We're not about how big we can grow. We're just looking more at trying to raise the bar in being a public research institution."

This strategic focus may help FSU get a shot at being the state's second university after the University of Florida to be invited into the prestigious Association of American Universities.

"It will probably cost on the order of $100 million to $150 million," said FSU associate vice president of research Ross Ellington of the start-up expenses of salaries, labs and equipment, and office space.
