FSU March Decisions!

I’m in-state, and in addition to my stats though may not be totally relevant…
I’m hispanic, 1st generation, and male.

Did you apply for the deadline back in December?

I applied regular decision and just found out an hour ago.
So like in January I sent in all my stuff.

You should have applied earlier around October for the December results it’s MUCH harder to get in for this march decision. I wouldn’t give up give them a call and try to appeal atleast let them know you really want to attend.

Did you apply for the Summer term??

I applied for fall, but I mean still.

I feel your pain, I was rejected with a 2000 SAT. Junior year I failed spanish and precalc completely(both semesters), and a D in both AP US history and AP english(Second semester only). Made up the first two segments of spanish and precalc.

Im currently trying to finish up APUSH and AP English on FLVS for grade forgiveness.

Other years were good though(10th all As one B with two AP and rest honors one reg), freshman 2 As 4 Bs with two APs rest honors.

Great extracurriculars. Have a parent as a part time professor there also siblings in honors program etc. Instate.

Will finishing up the grade forgiveness classes on FLVS, and appealing possibly help?

@ both of the colleges

What are your backup schools? UCF?

I think if you apply for fall your still evaluated for summer and spring

@HayDUH

I have no backup really. I first applied UF hoping I would get in, then rejected by FSU.

I think i failed to realize how important my junior year was, and an F is nearly a disqualification if you didn’t manage to retake it in time etc…

I will apply to USF and UCF and hope for the best. Though I doubt I would ever want to stay in Orlando, so I don’t think I’d want to go to UCF. My priority is to finish up all my FLVS grade forgiveness courses ASAP and try my best to appeal to FSU. If I get into USF I will go there.

This is really discouraging…

Keep your head up. You can always transfer.

Just found out our daughter was invited to start summer 2012 with enrollment for Fall as a continuing student. Don’t know what that means but doesn’t really sound bad. Will have to call tomorrow. Anyone else get this?

pawag01 - This just means your daughter is being invited to start in the summer (summer C session unless she is a transfer student). She will be in her second semester in the fall which is why the “continuing student” phrase.

My question is, if you got accepted for Spring 2013 admission, and some of the people that got accepted for summer choose not to enroll, will they then offer us Spring admission student’s the opportunity for summer? Or will they turn to the wait list instead? In other words, is there still an opportunity for your preferred semester as people decline and a spot opens up?

My son was deferred in Dec. and now denied. His plan is to attend TCC and then transfer to FSU for his junior and senior years. We have been looking at Southgate housing which is on campus and offers parking as well as a food plan. Anyone have experience or input on these ‘alternate’ plans?

Wow. All you guys getting denied is weird. Solid ACT and SAT scores. Admissions has apparently gotten much harder. I got in with an 1120 Reading/Math back and a 3.5 back in 09’ lolol. Congrats to those who got in (i applied March decision also)
We just won the ACC in basketball and should probably win in Football.
Good times are on the horizon for FSU

Accepted for summer term.
3.5 uw GPA
3.92 w GPA
27 ACT
1670 SAT
NHS, NSHSS, over 1500 community service hours which is what I wrote my essay on
Only taking 2 academics in school and 2 online so I was kind of surprised that didn’t affect me. 2 Honors and 2 AP Classes with 3 TV Production classes and 2 OJT classes.

Good luck to everyone.

I think there’s no telling who gets in and who doesn’t. And sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. FSU is my son’s #2 choice; he didn’t get into his #1 (is on the wait list), which has slightly lower freshman profile in terms of grades & scores, but he did get into FSU which has the higher standards. He has only had 2 C’s in all of high school, his grades have improved year to year, but SAT and ACT scores aren’t quite on par with others of same GPA level. His #1 places much more emphasis on test scores than most other schools we’ve run across. He ran three seasons track all 4 years, has been a captain of the teams since spring last year, and had some community service. He is OOS.

I think that different schools have different priorities in regard to in-state v. OOS, GPA, test scores, leadership, etc. That’s why WE don’t understand the decisions made!

As I said, I was most likely rejected because of the two Fs and two Ds in semester 2, of junior year. Rest of the years were mainly A’s with a strong AP courseload…

How do you know what term you have been accepted too?
