how good is fsu music???

that’s a really general question. i found this on the college of music website: “In its most recent survey of music programs, U.S. News & World Report ranked quality of the College of Music 12th in the nation and fifth among programs at public universities. The Opera program in the College of Music ranks fifth in the nation and third among programs at public universities according to the same report.” music performance and music education are pretty competitive. percussion is one of the most competitive (they only accept around 5-8 people out of over 100 applicants) i chose fsu music because they have a really great music therapy program.

do you know about the piano performance dept?
i was asking how good are they compared to the top conservatories.

No idea as to piano, but music performance in general at FSU has an excellent reputation, the best in Florida. For example, D2’s music teacher received an undergrad degree from FSU in music and was readily accepted into Yale for a grad degree in conducting (as I recall).

oh wow. thats amazing.
I was accepted in to the top conservatory MSM but Im highly considering FSU cuz I would be in 40k loan every year if i go to MSM while i get a full ride to FSU…
So… im still deciding where to go…

I’d suggest saving your money for graduate school. Being $160K in debt (for tuition alone) for a music undergrad degree seems…unnecessary.

Whoa whoa @jp0701 I know this is five years later but if you still visit this website which I know you don’t lol you got a full ride as a music scholarship or academic?!! That’s amazing both of those schools are extraordinary and which ever one you did end up choosing that’s amazing just wow ps I really wanna go to FSU for music and I’m just in awe 4 u well CONGRATS ON GRADUATING!!
