FSU Off-Campus Housing Advice - Transfer Student

Hey! I'm a 21 year old, female, transfer student and I need advice on where to live in the fall near FSU. I'm looking for a 2/2, 3/3, 4/4 under $500, but could go up to $600 if it's worth it. I've spent a lot of time looking online for places, but I haven't really been sold on any of them. I would like to live in a decent place, but it seems hard to find that around FSU. I've been told to stay away from Frenchtown (north of FSU).. any other places to avoid?

I'm also a serious student and not really into the party scene. I go out occassionally on weekends, but def not an everyday thing. I've been told not to live around FSU if im not into the party scene, but i'd like to make friends since i don't know anyone up there. I'm afraid if I live too far away, I won't meet people like I would at a student apartment complex. The parking on campus also scares me (i don't want to wait 30 mins for parking everyday) so some place on a bus route would be ideal.

It also seems that every time I find a place I may be interested in, I hear/read bad reviews about it. Either the managment is bad, the place is falling apart, the staff stucks, it's full of theft, shootings happen there, it's loud all the time or it's loud at night, you can hear through the walls, the parking is horrible, the place is in the ghetto, etc.

As you can see I really need advice on where to live! I know that no place is perfect, it is college housing after all, but there has to be some place that is better than the others.

I'd love to hear your advice on Tallahassee rentals. Preferably if you have lived at the place, but i'll take anything at this point! Thanks in advance!

I am in the same boat! I went to the march transfer orientation and it was definitely a hassle to find a spot on campus! I went to like 3 different garages in the morning to find a spot. I am coming in as a junior so I am looking for the same type of information lol. Good luck!
