FSU or FAU?

I was accepted to both but due to financial problems and the fact that I didn't get 100% bright futures, my parents are considering me staying home in south Florida and going to FAU. I have no problem with that but I have always wanted to go to FSU, ever since my freshman year. I have worked my tail off trying to get in and now that I'm accepted, I may not go :( my parents are bargaining that I can go to FSU for the first year then finish up college at FAU. However, putting aside my feelings and burning desire to be independent, which school has a better reputation for Communications majors? Specifically Advertising and Public Relations? Because I know some degrees from certain colleges are considered "jokes"; for example, Physical Therapy at FSU.

I’m currently at FAU now, and its a great school, even if you are going to commute to. I’m the same as you I’m about to finish my 2nd year after Spring semester and got accepted as a transfer to FSU. You are basically going to do the same courses your first two years anyway, so if you are worried financially then see if you can go to FAU for first two then go to FSU for the last two for your bachelors degree.

Though I’m not exactly sure about your major that you are asking about, either way though both schools I think are good.

FSU doesn’t offer Physical Therapy as a degree program.

Your reference:

is therefore a mystery. If a university doesn’t offer such a degree how can it be a “joke”?

thanks jr0990! and parent2noles, my old boss went to FSU and graduated with a physical therapy major, or its equivalent, back in the day

[Advertising is within the College of Communication and Information](http://www.academic-guide.fsu.edu/communication_advertising.html) at Florida State.

Advertising at FSU is a “limited access program” where there is great demand for admission, which means there is substantial competition for admission.

I would suggest you find a way to stay at FSU for all four years as opposed to merely attending for freshman year or do your basic studies at FAU then transfer to FSU for junior and senior year. You could even attend a community college for an AA then transfer to FSU for your BS/BA.

Note that FSU has specific requirements to enter and be retained in Advertising:

Good luck!

Thank you! We’re still working out the details but so far I’m going to FSU. I have about 18 credits so I will be graduating maybe a year or so earlier which helps, but thank you so much for your input!
