should i go to FSU or UCF for undergrad?

anybody out there from UCF? I would really like some feedback from UCF students and alumni…

FSU and UCF are very different schools. You’ll get a good quality of education at either one, so the determining factor should be how each school feels to you. Have you taken a campus tour at both schools? You may like the older, historic and prestigious feel of FSU, or you may like the modern, growing feel of UCF. I would recommend visiting both schools and talking to people you know who go there.

“Pre-Med” is very broad; it can be any major, so long as you take the med school required courses. Since I’m faced with the same problem, and only difference is I’ve been accepted to both schools, let’s help each other out, shall we?

I agree with imwmucf’s reply. This depends on where you feel “at home”. UCF has a larger class size than FSU, since the latter is more selective when it comes to freshmen entrants. FSU is a historic “college-town” type; while UCF is, well, modern. In my opinion, those aesthetic factors don’t affect academic integrity, but its all subjective I suppose.

UCF offers an undergraduate study in Biomedical Sciences, while FSU offers this as more of a graduate emphasis. UCF also is rising in the ranks of health-related sciences because of its most recent involvement with Orlando’s soon-to-be Medical City.

FSU’s Arts and Sciences has been around since the early 1900s. It has a more established faculty when it comes to medical science research (see: Taxol and cancer). Their Biology and Chemistry programs are very competitive and innovative in terms of student research, which is a good indicator of further success.

My only concern with attending FSU is everything else but the academics, because I’m Orlando-based with a job and everything else that life throws. Where will it be more convenient for you? Tallahassee or Orlando?

well i am from orlando, so it would be more convenient to stay here in Otown, but i’m more concerned with getting the best education. Most people I talk to, all say don’t go to UCF. I’ve also been accepted to FSU, UCF AND UF. So I have a big decision on my hands… I’ve compared the classes offered at UCF and FSU, its seems as if UCF offers more variety in terms of Microbiology which is what i’m look at majoring in. But i’ve talked to the advisors at FSU and they say that most pre-med students major in Exercise Science, which seems interesting to me. Another thing that i am weighing is the amount of Aid I will be receiving from each school. FSU is only giving me a Pell Grant because they have run out of money for the Spring term… UF is giving me the Pell and an extra SMART Grant. And UCF has yet to offer me anything, which seems kind of wierd, since I got accepted first there.
