My priority number is 1981. Do you think I will get one of my top 4 choices of dorms(my top 4 choices-in order- are Wildwood, Degraff, Gilchrist, and Cawthorn)

Thanks!

It is hard to say. The new dorms have added a lot more spaces so I think you have a shot even though your priority number is not under 1000.

Those are my top 4 as well, though I have Degraff as 1 and Wildwood as 2.

Degraff and Wildwood both hold 700 each, Gilchrist holds 229 and Cawthon holds 297. In total, it adds up to about 1900. Also, not everyone who signed up for housing will necessarily attend FSU, though certain spots in each of the 4 dorms you listed have been reserved for people in learning communities (not sure exactly what those are or how many spots are reserved). Maybe someone else can answer that. That could give you a better idea on your chances.

And don't forget some current students will want to remain on campus in the dorms so they take some spots too.

I wish they sent out an e-mail telling about the FSU Priority numbers. I was kinda lucky and my friends had their facebook statuses the day of admissions decisions saying what priority numbers they had [0012, 0035 were a couple of them]. I ended up getting 588, which is when I signed up at ~3:00 pm the DAY of December 3rd.

I signed up at like 1 AM and got in the 260's. Would have been sooner if I knew that my hall preferences didn't matter at the time of signups (and if the site wasn't down due to traffic).

5514!!!!!
w00t
out of a total capacity of : 6110 students!!!

5030, lol.

4,765 :-(

There will only be 4000 freshman attending, so not to worry, you will get housing. Not all freshman live on campus. Some are from tally and commute, some live off campus. Last year, close to 2000 numbers were not active by May 1st--maybe more. There are lots of students who pay the deposit, then ask for a partial refund when they choose to go somewhere else--UF, UCF, USF, or a LAC or an out of state U. Then there are those who loose their number because they signed up but never actually sent the depost, or were under 18 and never sent the parental signatures. Last year, numbers for housing went as high as nearly 6000 but every freshman had dorm room if they wanted it. And once assignments come out, if you are not happy, FILL OUT A CHANGE FORM. There is still alot of movement after assignments are made. Some freshman decide to live off campus, and slots in other dorms open up. And there are always the lving-learning communities. Hurry, not too late to sign up. Rudysmom--my D had a friend in the Music lving and learning community and he LOVES it.

I got 5400 something. Don't look to good but I hear upperclassmen is a good thing when getting a dorm so will see.

I was so proud of myself when I signed up for housing like a couple days later, I honestly thought I would get in the first 100 #'s

shows how naive I am...I'm at 1,900 haha
excellent.
Isnt housing supposed to be announced sometime in april?!
super excited.

Wondering that as well. When will we find out which hall we were sent to?

075.
yup, that was a looong night.
Anyhow, I
My first choice is Landis, I know it’s mostly the honors dorm.
Do I have a chance at Landis?

My others are:
2- Broward
3- Gilchrist
4-Salley

Was also thinking of applying to the Bryant hall learning community.
Anyone have any experience with that hall?

There are more honors students than there are rooms in Landis, so if you are not honors, you won’t get into Landis unless there is some fluke of the computer.

If you are honors and number 75, your in! If your not honors, you’ll be in to your #2 spot.

I stayed up that first night as well… my priority number is actually #42 (…or its right around there… its in the 40s). One of my friends is #12! haha. I would have been closer to him but my computer lagged up and I had to restart.

The honors students “spill over” to Gilchrist. So, if you get your second choice, you’ll still be in that environment. Also, in case you’re unaware…there is a second story connection between Landis and Gilchrist. Many of the activities include both halls.

wait i have to send a signature and how?

sunnyflorida: you seem to be pretty much in the know. With budgetary constraints reducing the frosh class size, and the added financial crunch (perhaps sending more kids into FL public schools), how does FSU figure they’ll get to the 4,000 number? How are they handling this?

Danski2: you only need to mail in a parent signature if you are under 18.
