I got into FSU and UF Pace program. The pace program requires me to get 60 credit hours, then I automatically can go from UF online to traditional UF classes. This would only take me 2 semesters since I have about 40 credits currently. I am not a gator fan or a nole fan, so either school works for me. However, I know UF business school is ranked much higher than FSU. I’m willing to do UF pace, however do you think FSU business school is drastically different from UF? I’m not good at online classes, and want my first year on campus so I might choose FSU. Do you think doing the one year UF online will cause me to miss out on my college experience, and is it worth doing the Pace requirement in order to begin UF as a traditional student? Or is FSU business still a great school and choice for my future job, and is being a freshmen on campus crucial?
FSU’s business school is great! I personally am choosing FSU over UF (got into both). The faculty is much nicer and the building is much nicer. FSU’s dorms are mostly for freshmen anyway and the experience seems amazing from what I’ve heard. Also note that FSU’s new business building is opening in 2019 ish and the class of 2020 will be the first graduating class to use it! They’re also opening up the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship which seems really interesting! Idk though this is just my 2 cents. There are many students at FSU who go onto great things and land solid jobs, at my last visit the professors told me of a bunch of students from the class of 2016 who landed great jobs in New York and Chicago!
I’ve heard that the PACE program is really just a way for UF to up their revenue. You can’t live in the dorms and are not a “full student” . You might as well just stay home and save the money and do your online courses from there.
Your freshman year of college is about more than just education. It’s a great time to meet new people and open your mind. Many freshman change their majors after taking a class with an amazing (non-virtual) professor.
Discussions with real professors and discussions after classes with the students you meet in your non-virtual classes are a traditional part of a University experience. Clubs and events (not just sports) is all part of the social part of college which is an important part of growing up during the college years.
My advice is go to school where you will be regular , first class citizen and not a virtual student. Where you can live in the dorms and mingle with everyone. You can always go to UF (or Harvard !) For your MBA !
I would definitely go to FSU. PaCE is stil very new so im sure there are still some problems here and there.I also think you are stuck with a PaCE major so if you have any second thoughts on your major it could cause some problems.
In my opinion, online school is best for older, non-traditional students. Traditional, college-aged students should attend physical classes, as much as possible.
Some students – especially younger students – have a higher fail-rate with online courses. They can be challenging because it is so easy to fall behind, and it is more difficult to get assistance.
