FSU, Rutgers or Puget Sound?

These are the three schools that I'm kind of border line on applying to, since I already have six other schools that I am VERY excited to apply to and go to (Wisconsin, Texas, Washington, Pitt, Ohio State, and LSU as a safety), and two others that my parents are making me apply to (Cal, UCSC, In case I want to stay in state), I want to apply to 2 of these three.

I like Big cities, I'm going into political science, for political career reasons I want to live in a liberal area. I want something of a party school, but also a school where I can get a great education. I like relatively warm weather (SF, Seattle type is Ideal).

And also I want a large school. My SAT score is 1820, my GPA UW is 3.48 and W 3.80 and I have good EC’s and such. I’m kind of looking for schools to fill the chance gap, and academics gap between LSU and Pitt.

The question is which 2 should I apply to, or which one should I bump?

oh and I’m not a state resident of any so yeah

How did UPS get in your list? It’s a pretty obvious outlier.

With a GPA of 1820 and you are applying OOS and to a prestigious and selective private school, I would encourage you to look closely at more safeties and some instate. USanDiego would be a good option for you and its similar to Puget Sound. Its strong academics and great weather and a bit of a party school.

State universities are clamping down on admissions and looking for those who can pay full freight…so if you are not applying for financial aid, then you may get in. On the other hand, some flagships are cutting back on OOS applicants to check each one individually.

Loyola New Orleans is also a very good school in Louisiana. It doesnt have the sports of LSU or FSU, but its a great school, a lot of fun, adjacent to Tulane and somewhat liberal. They might give you money. They have some fabulous faculty there! One in political science/philosophy/history I am aware of. (He has taught in all three faculties).

Neither UPS nor USanDiego nor Loyola University are big schools. But they make up for that with a really solid education and their environs. Sometimes really big is really a hassle. Bureaucracy trouble getting into classes and a cold administration and faculty who could care less what happens to you.

I’d go SDSU before USD

Florida State has an excellent polisci program, great sports and warm weather. There is an occasional party, too.
