Hello all.

I'd love to hear from anyone affliliated with or attending FSU who can speak to:
(1) the challenges of double majoring in the Theatre (BA)
(2) specific theatre opportunities for non-majors

My D was accepted to FSU and plans to major in their Editing/Writing/Media program.
[Although she would LOVE to major in Theatre - she has an ogre of a mother (that would be me) who won't allow her to major in theatre alone. (if you'd like to tell me how wrong i am for doing that, i'll be happy to hear from you, but for now, i really need to get the information i'm asking for in this thread - maybe you could email/PM me if you want to argue the virtues of majoring in theatre? beleive me, i'm very conflicted about it and am happy to listen to those who know more than i do.)]

(1) IF she double majors:

Does anyone know who difficult/easy it is to double major on Theatre (BA not BFA) and something else at FSU?

Theatre is such a time-consuming activity/passion that it's tough to manage that sometimes (even with someone at home to handle the grunt work).

Anyone out there have any details on double majoring in Theatre at FSU? If so - what saw the other major? Did they fit it into 4 years?

(2) IF she doesn't double major:

D was VERY disspointed to find out recently that FSU does not offer a Theatre minor. (We had both assumed that she would AT LEAST minor in theatre.)

Perhaps someone could speak about the possibilities available at FSU outside of a major or a minor?

I was thinking that, at the very least, she could take all of her electives in theatre?
But her major will require her to get a minor and i'm wondering if that will eat up her electives?

I guess the question is this - at FSU, how much can you be involved in theatre if you're not a BFA or BA Theatre major?

The more specific that you can be, the better... she's gotta make a school choice and I'd like her to have as much information as possible.

Thanks so much!
