FSU vs FIU for computer science! Please help

I’m a transfer student choosing fsu for my bachelors in computer science. However, to attend fsu I will need to take out loans for the two years if I don’t get any schoolarships, even though the amount of the loan is not so bad, I am wondering if it is a better option to just to stay in Miami and not own so much. However, if the education, and the experience of attending fsu will be worthwhile, I am willing to go for it, and pursue my career there. Any thoughts on the matter? Help is appreciated

@CSstudent12 a BS in computer science will get you a six figure job (if you are dedicated enough) no matter what university you receive it from. Finishing undergrad with 0 debt is rare, so if you have the opportunity to do so… go for it.

Are you going to live at home while going to FIU? That will save a lot of money. The tuition at FIU and FSU is practically the same.

You may regret living at home, though. I wish I had lived on campus my first year at FSU. I always lived off campus to save money. I wish I had spent a little more for the on campus experience.

Instead of saying 'a loan’and 'not so much’or ‘much’, can you use actual figures?
If you’re talking about two years of federal Stafford loans, IE., $7,500 per year, I’d go with fsu. The companies that recruit from fsu aren’t the same as those from fiu, and that loan wil be paid back quickly. As ^ said, living on your own rather than at home has its own value : it will also teach you daily skills you’re better off learning as a college student, not as a young graduate starting a job. However, if we’re talking private loans fiu remains a safer option.
Why did you apply to fsu in the first place?

Yeah, how much in loans are you talking about? Is the difference just your living expenses, or are you talking thousands of dollars more?

I can’t say I know a lot about FIU, but I’m comp sci at FSU. If the loans aren’t too much, I’d recommend it. There’s a lot of opportunities for CS here. I love it, and I’m taking out loans for it. As long as you don’t just skate through (do stuff outside of class, basically), you’ll be fine. A friend of mine barely graduated with a 3.0 and did one internship and landed a $60k job before they even graduated.
