FSU vs UCF Music dept?

A friend of mine is looking into colleges for music theory, composition, etc. They are looking at FSU and I'm playing to go to a college in Orlando. I know a big factor for FSU is the party school atmosphere but that's not a big deal for them; I'm just wondering whether UCF has a comparable music program. Anybody know?

Not a music major here, but what I have heard repeatedly over the decades is that Florida State has the best music department in Florida, hands down. It is tough to be accepted to as well as difficult and demanding once you are admitted. As an FSU graduate I recall the few music students I knew complaining about auditioning to get in, the work load and “juries”.

From the FSU CoM website:

See: [College of Music ? Florida State University](http://www.music.fsu.edu/)

One of our younger daughter’s teachers at HS was an FSU music grad who was extremely talented. He was accepted into Yale for a music graduate program without difficulty.

Hope this anecdotal info helps.
