FSU vs UCF

Hi, I will be graduating soon and have been accepted into FSU. I was hoping to go to UF but was not accepted. I am planning to major in biochemistry. I chose this major because i find biochem interesting and i do not know what career I want yet. I want to leave as many doors open so that when I am more mature and know more information, I can decide what I want to do in life. The careers I am currently looking at as options (narcotics, forensics, engineering, med school) also fall under the biochem umbrella and I believe if I transfer majors would not be as stressful for me. I was so sure about FSU but now UCF has been coming up a lot. UCF is known for their good stem field program, good engineering, and it is closer to home ( 2 hrs away instead of fsu’s 4 hrs). My bf is also planning to go to UCF but I do not want the relationship to affect my college decision. Still if UCF turns out to be better, it would be nice. I was so sure about FSU but I am so confused now. If somebody here can tell me which college is better for the major I am aiming for or the field that I am interested in, please help me out. I understand that I still have pre-reqs to take so maybe the uni or college won’t matter so much yet but it would be nice to know now. I am so confused, I want to plan things out now and graduation is coming up. If anyone knows anything about the difference of the schools, please reply. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!!

In general, FSU is the better school. It simply will offer you more resources.

FSU is stronger in all of these fields (including biochem) with the possible exception of engineering. Unless you’re sure about engineering, FSU would be the best choice.

Good Luck and try not to stress too much! You’ve got this! :-bd

Thank you for your reply! Definitely keeping your comment in mind

I would strongly recommend touring the colleges ASAP. I know a good handful of people turning down top schools like UF because they cannot see themselves enjoying it there. While you are there try to talk to some of the professors or current students to get an idea. I hate going off of statistics online, it is definitely better to talk to an actual student and get their perspective. I am not familiar with your major but i do hear alot about UCF STEM majors but not much about FSU. again, im not as familiar with it tho.

Agree with Danif, the schools really have a different feel when you visit them. Definitely worth your time to plan a visit to each!
