FSU w/o AA

I'm currently a student at Seminole State College and I plan on applying to FSU as a transfer student for Fall 2013. I want to seek a double major in Philosophy and Political Science and also have a strong background in Economics (the math is what has me weary of majoring in Econ. I'd rather learn about theory than numbers).

This is my first semester at Seminole State (Summer B). I'm currently taking College Algebra and Oral Communications. I anticipate getting a B in College Algebra and an A in Oral Communications, making my Summer B (and cumulative) GPA between 3.2-3.5.

Through AP, I have credit for the following classes at Seminole State:

Macroeconomics: ECO 2013
Microeconomics: ECO 2023
English Language (4): ENC 1101, ENC 1102
French Language (4): FRE 2211, FRE 2220
Comparative Government & Politics: CPO 2002
United States Government and Politics: POS 1041
United States History (4): AMH 2010, AMH 2020
Psychology: PSY 2012
World History (4): WOH 1023
Spanish Language (5): SPN 2220, SPN 2240
Statistics: STA 2023

I've cross-checked with FSU's AP policy and according to their table, I am eligible to have all these scores validated and credit earned at FSU, so there's really no discrepancy there.

How much does your high school transcript matter in a transfer admissions? I honestly know that I've slacked off in high school and that's why I'm in a state college to begin with. I kind of got my wake up call second semester of senior year after I was rejected from 4 out of 6 universities I applied to. That's when I decided to take it upon myself to salvage what I had left, miraculously passing 7 AP exams this past May, plus the 5 from freshman-junior years. Will my high school grades hurt me still? We're talking below a 3.0.

Anyone? I’m realizing that I’m cutting short on deadlines. :(

What I do know is that, the more CC credits you earn, the less will the high school record be held against you.

Do AP credits count as CC credits?

As I mentioned in [your thread in the FSU forum](Transferring without AA - Florida State University - College Confidential Forums), you missed the deadline to apply to FSU as a Fall 2013 transfer.

The short answer is that if you are a lower-division transfer (60 or fewer credit hours), you must meet both the transfer requirements- essentially a 3.0 GPA- and the freshman applicant requirements.

The word is basically that if your high school profile wouldn’t get you accepted as an incoming freshman, you don’t get accepted as a transfer. This is why it’s always advised that if you are thinking of transferring to FSU, to just get your AA. It’s so much easier, there’s fewer admissions criteria to meet, and if you have your AA there’s a pretty good chance (I don’t know the official % but it’s probably pretty high) that if you have a GPA above a 3.0 and are applying to a non-limited access major, you will be accepted.
