Fsu, wvu, psu, uf?

I am trying to decide which of the four schools to attend in the fall. I have been accepted to WVU with a 35k scholarship as well as getting into the honors college. I have also been accepted to FSU. I am still waiting to hear from UF (mid February) and psu (jan 31). I intend on majoring in marketing, but I am not completely set on my major, I just know it will be something along the lines of marketing/communications. I am pretty positive I will get into psu, but not too sure about UF. I have a 3.7 gpa uw and 1800 composite sat. As far as college visits go, I have only ever seen psu and wvu, but I am touring fsu in February. My problem is I want to be able to have a #1 school that once I am accepted I can just put in my housing deposit and finally stop stressing, but there are so many factors to consider. Also I have to add that I am in state in PA, so I would be getting in state tuition at penn state, but I have family in florida and I would be getting in state tuition after my first year, therefore the costs are all about the same. Should I go with whatever option is cheapest? I know psu and uf are the best of the four but which one is best ranked for business? Job placement? Which program has the most up to date technology? I have tried researching most of this but I have not had much luck. Any information would help a lot! Thanks!

For business and job placement I would go with PSU, but do look at cost - Penn State is very expensive in-state (tops the list actually) and on top of it PA has lousy financial aid.
Wait till you have all acceptances/denials AND financial aid awards before you make a decision. I understand you want to be done, but there’s no rush. You know that no matter what, you’re going to college, so now relax, make sure the mid-year report is fine (keep your grades up, universities won’t take the risk on a student who gets a D or an F senior year) and enjoy senior year!

Are you sure about getting in-state tuition at UF after your first year? I think it’s much harder to establish residency as a college student than you may believe so you may want to research that more thoroughly.

*but I have family in florida and I would be getting in state tuition after my first year, *

Not likely.

Just because you have relatives in FL does not mean that you’d get instate tuition. Your residency is based on where your parents live.

PSU and UF have top 25 undergrad programs in marketing (with the nod going to PSU). I would add that you may also want to take into account which part of the country you wish to live and work in, after graduation. If it’s the NE, you may want to choose PSU, if it’s the southeast, then Florida. Both schools are better known in their regions, and have strong regional Alumni networks.

If you have to choose between FSU and West Virginia, then the choice would be FSU (not taking into account WV’s scholarship offer), as it has the stronger academics. If FSU is too expensive, then go with WV.

Good Luck!

My grandmother has talked to people and found all the information out about switching my residency. As far as I know all I have to do is have her as my legal guardian and live there for 12 months (so the first year would be out of state) if this is wrong I definitely would not be leaving pa… so going to wvu would be stupid even though I got into honors?

It’s not stupid :)

FSU is the stronger school, based on academics, but other factors (including cost and fit) could make WV the better option for YOU. You’ll have to make that choice.
