Accepted!
Does anyone know how the program is? Any alumni out there? I’m really excited.
I got my acceptance email too. Glad to get it well before the middle of may.
@noviax I’m not sure. @Giraffe636 my brother did the program and LOVED it. It’s an amazing experience, and not too much work like there’s a lot of time to just chill with friends. From past classes, it seems as if the majority get into Cal Tech. Many alumni go to great schools, for example my brother is at Harvard
Woah! Sounds great See you there @ongdrumr
What research areas did you guys apply for?
@Mitrak everything physics/physical science related. Do you know if they’ve already matched us with IRP mentors, or will they let us give preference from a list? (People from past years said that’s what they did but it sounded like we were already matched from the email).
I’m really not sure, but you’re right, it does sound like we’re already matched. I’m guessing it’ll be more clear in the acceptance packet. I put down computer science, math and physics, if I’m remembering correctly.
My daughter did the program in 2013. Everyone of the students went on to top colleges. My daughter is at Vanderbilt. Others went to Yale, Brown, UPenn, Rice, MIT, Rice … Only one went to a state school. I think top colleges like these competitive fully funded programs. She enjoyed it.
Actually, on their website it says they’ll send us a list of mentors and projects, then we’ll rank them (like we did for the topics I guess), but they ultimately decide which one we do.
@Mitrak Oh yeah I just saw that! I should’ve looked haha.
Although I’m waiting on another program, it’s really likely that I’ll attend YSP. I’m super pumped!!
May I ask those who got accepted are from what schools?
@noviax I could PM you. Did you get accepted?
I got one as well!
I was surprised because last year they sent out acceptances in early April from what I’ve heard
@noviax
I believe they sent it out as one, because everyone who posted seemed to get it on the 24th, which is when I received mine
I guess that means I am not accepted then.
Nevermind, I just got an acceptance email today!
Anyone here is interested in creating a facebook group for FSU YSP 2016?
@noviax I found a group called “FSU YSP 2016” but there are like 2 people in it, do you think that’s supposed to be the one?
