<p>FSU’s BOT’s better get smart. They need to choose a new president wisely. It is a little to premature to fret over salary. If they choose the right person, a two million dollar salary would be a bargain.</p>
<p>The new president has to figure out a way to improve the quality of education, raise the worldwide academic reputation of FSU and find a way to keep the campus diversified. To do that, he/she has to raise a lot of money. Personally, I don’t think that a 0.1% commission is enough.</p>

<p>A legitimate university pays its president more than its football coach. Why? Because money talks and “you know what” walks. If you are an institution of higher learning, you put your money where your mouth is. </p>
<p>A football coach should be paid well. A quality football program is a smart way to fund all athletic activities and it gives the university instant name recognition nationally. However, a truly excellent president brings millions, almost billions, of dollars in research grants that attract the best scholars. </p>
