What do you mean by English 015? Is that the advanced English course? What if I did really good on my English test (fingers crossed!!) and the class is full? Does that mean i won't get in? That's gonna suck!!

The reason why I delayed the testing was because i was still waiting for a reply from UMICH (as i was waitlisted)...and when i realized that i won't get in off the waitlist, i decided to take the test. I didn't want to take the test and then find out that I wouldn't be attending PSU in the first place.

Also, do you think I'll get into the special dorms (BASH) even though i sent in my deposit 2 weeks before the deadline? In my sapphire brochure I read that we get "first preference" for the new dorms, but most people say that if you send in your deposit later, you'll most likely get the supplemental housing. :(

Sounds like you have a good chance for getting into BASH, I think the supplemental goes mostly to folks who do not choose special living options (Although I do not know why anyone wouldn't, especially if they were late with their acceptance, since it could get you a chance to escape supplemental)
Also if you cannot get into English there are usually more sections opening later or else you can always take it in the spring.

My daughter is a going to be a sophmore. Last year we had to reschedule her ftcap day to a later date. When she went to ftcap, alot of the classes she wanted (psy 002 with peck for instance) were closed. So she picked the best schedule she could on that day. But during the summer, as openings became available on elion, she was able to get a seat in all the classes the she wanted.

Also it really is no big deal at all if you have to take English 15 in the spring. And mightynick, when you get your ftcap scores you will probably be eligible to take either English 15 or English 30. Same with Math, either 110 or 140. Then you will have to decide which to take.

Math 140 is usually taken by those in sciences/engineering. Math 110 is more for business majors.
Eng 30 is more advanced than Eng 15.
When you get to FTCAP, they will help you understand what makes sense for you given your math and english scores (plus any AP credits you have).
By the way, check out the online Daily Collegian (the summer editions are starting up again). There's some pretty scary stuff about the housing crunch - like rooming freshman with RA, lots of triples, and turning a bunch of singles into doubles. It's really too bad that they accepted too many freshman this year - what were they thinking?

Can anyone describe how the registration stuff works at FTCAP day? I have FTCAP on the 19th, but was in State College a few weeks ago so I got my ID + Access Account. I've seen my test results thorough eLion already, but I'm just curious how they do the actual scheduling process.

they do general orientation in the morning including a review of your test scores. Then they break you up by school in the afternoon and you register in a small group setting (with advisors and current students floating around). At least that's how they did it for Schreyer's - I'm sure it's very similar for all. By the way, quite a few classes were full and that was in May. Sign up for what you can and then keep checking this summer as students make changes.
