Do we get our postcards for the testing the week after we accept?

Hows the english? (easy/hard, somewhere in the middle?) What's on the chemistry? & whats the most advanced thing on the math?

Ive also heard that you don't have to take the classes that the advisors recommend according to your score, is this true?

Yes, it take about a week to receive the post card. D1 and D2 thought the tests were pretty easy but they were/are in Schreyer honors college. Below is a summary of what is in a FTCAP report. Sorry if the summary doesn’t display well but you can get an idea of what you’ll see in your own report at FTCAP.

The FTCAP Summary application is an online representation of the printed copies of the Summary of Academic Performance (formerly the Profile of Academic Abilities) that are distributed to students and advisers as part of the First-Year Testing, Consulting, and Advising Program (FTCAP).
The placement actions shown below are based on the scores that were earned on the Penn State English, mathematics, and chemistry placements tests, which were scored on April 12, 2010.
Note: if the mathematics retest has been taken, then the Basic Mathematics, MATH 110, MATH 140, and CHEM 110 results shown below may be different from those on the original printed copies of the Summary of Academic Performance that were distributed as part of FTCAP.
Additional information about the Summary of Academic Performance can be found in the University Undergraduate Advising Handbook and in the Help document.

english is pretty easy. you will most likely be suggested for english 15, unless you take the test as a joke, or unless you are very advanced, in which you will be suggested to take a harder english. I would consider myself really bad at english since its my second language and i still got into english 15, like i said, about 98% of the people i know got into it, the other few got into a higher one.

I know i didnt need a chem class (business), so i guessed on every single chem question.

If your a business major, you will get put in math 110, and you wont need a higher one, so taking a harder one will be pointless.
if your a math, engineering, or science major, you will be put in math 140 (or 141 not sure) which is harder calculus.

and they are just RECOMMENDED. which means you can schedule any class you want, but if they were recommended, i dont see why you wouldnt want to follow the advisor’s advice since they know what they are doing most of the time.
