Ok I got accepted and sent in my deposit, but I haven't filled out the housing contract yet. S when and where do I take the tests?

Testing is online before you go up for the registration and orientation day. You should get a postcard or something in the mail about it (not sure when). I think registration for freshmen starts around May, so it will definitely be before then. The testing is timed (math, english and chem) and you take it at your convenience. They will give you the results when you go up for registration.

If we do poorly, we won't get our admission revoked, will we?

so they will send us something to let us know we can take the test?

You get a postcard or something telling you how to log on and take the tests. They are for placement only, your admission will not be revoked based on these tests. For example, if you need (or want) to take calculus or a certain level of chemistry for your major and you do not do well enough in the online testing, you may have to take a lower level class first.

thanks for clarifying :)

I was just asking my S about this last week and found all the info right here: http://www.psu.edu/dus/ftcap/index.shtml

In summary it says, "After you accept your offer of admission, you will be scheduled to take FTCAP testing on the Web. The tests take about three hours or less. You will be given a deadline by which you must take these tests online in order to have the results scored, printed, and ready for you when you attend your FTCAP advising day.

Details about the testing will be sent to you along with the notification of your deadline after March 15."
