Full Bio and Chem classes

Does any one have any insight on why there are so many classes that are closed? A big university like Pitt should have more spaces available. Chem 2 and Bio 1 closed. DD said people were standing in the back of the class trying to get in!!!!

Keep in mind that today is the first day of the spring semester and many of those kids are trying for an earlier or later section of the same course in which they are already enrolled.

There is a rush to drop/add classes and students who enrolled for a different section may want to transfer to another one.

The honors chemistry in the fall was a crash and burn for many students. There were about 70 in the chemistry honors in the fall, but only about 20 went on to honors for the second semester. So up to 50 honors (not my daughter–she switched to computer science) kids may have switched to non-honors. I have no idea about the bio classes. The chemistry lectures have been filled since right after registration started in the fall, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to the students.

There are lots of sections…just showing up at a section is a good way to start. Also, check daily on the website for openings. Most kids want to go during the day, but there are also evening lecture and lab sections, as well as saturday labs. Try those too. I know somebody who got into these kind of classes just last week.
