Full courseload but three day weekend?

I'm a second semester freshman and this semester, I'm taking 18 credits, the maximum amount one can take at my school. While its definitely a step up from the 13 credits I had last semester, I feel that because I do have a three day weekend (no friday classes and onl one on monday), it can be manageable. I was also thinking about getting a job, but now I'm thinking that might be too difficult with my courseload. What do you think? Is my courseload manageable enough to get a job? Or should I just wait until the summer to get one?

It’s an individual decision. I’ve only had classes on Friday twice and I’ve always worked. It’s manageable for me, but I don’t know your courses or your time management skills.

With that said, I have never met anyone who doesn’t have time to work a small job. 8-10 hours a week should be more than manageable.

The number of credits says very little about your actual workload. I’ve had a semester when I struggled with 12 credits and another where 20 credits was a breeze.

If you get a job, I suggest you start with a bit of mindless busy work. Grading for 10 hours a week was much more distracting from school work for me than sitting at the library circulation desk for 10 hours.

18 is a lot, but I’m sure it’s doable. You can always drop a class if it’s too hard and you’ll still have a respectable amount of credits. I rarely have class on Fridays and I usually don’t have much on Mondays…my major really likes to schedule classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I really like having a long weekend, though I don’t know how much it helps my productivity sometimes, lol. I work about 10 hours a semester and it’s never been a problem.
