Hey guys I just found out that I can get "full out of state tuition" for my 700 math and 700 critical reading scores at U Alabama. I have always been set on UT Austin, but this seems quite tempting. I want to major in biology/biochemistry/chemistry and then hopefully go onto med school. I know UT Austin college of natural sciences would be a way better school and it would be much more convenient because it's closer to home..But Alabama doesn't seem like THAT bad of a school. I just feel like I wouldn't be challenged there. Any advice?

Also I heard from a lot of different people that bama has a TON of hot girls but is kind of a “hick town”… haha i know that sounds rude, but it may be just realistic.

Full tuition is not the same as full ride, although the UA Presidential Scholarship is attractive if you are cost-sensitive.

Apply to both and see what financial aid offer UT gives and decide later.

I also received a full ride to Bama, because I am a National Merit Semifinalist…I have the same concerns as you do (hick town, not hot girls). My #1 is Duke, and Bama is probably my lasttttttt backup.

@ucbalumnus - oops sorry, I didn’t know that! thanks for letting me know :D

@Toujoursduke - haha yeah I’m definitely not CONCERNED about too many hot girls either. I just hope that if I went to Bama I would be prepared for med school/MCAT and that I would be challenged enough.

Well, I’m not exactly into girls so I don’t care either way hahaha. I just don’t like Alabama…I would LOVE a northern school (Harvard, Princeton or Duke).
