Full Ride at UF or UT-Austin

Does anybody know what SAT score is required for a full ride at UF or UT-Austin?

HAHAHA, since when does UT give full rides based on SAT? They're one of the stingiest schools when it comes to giving out merit aid.

what about National Merit Finalists?

UT gives $4000 for your freshman year and $3000 for each subsequent year for NM Finalists, not close to a full ride.

you cant be right. NMF is a big honor and someone told me they do give full rides....

oh well how do i get a full ride at UT-Austin than?

I believe UF does give NMFs a very generous package, don't know if it is as much as a full ride for out of staters. Not UT Austin.

UF gives 24 grand over 4 years if I'm not mistaken for NMF. Add that to bright futures, and other stuff, and you'd be set. (That is if you're in state)

UF is NOT a full ride for instate NMFs....it comes out to about $2000-2500/yr.

Here are the details for the the University of Florida program....

Merit Scholar Finalists
The University of Florida participates in the National Merit Scholarship Program and guarantees that Florida residents who qualify as Merit Scholar finalists and name the University of Florida their college of first choice will receive $24,000 over four years: $5,500 each year. The remaining $2,000 is for undergraduate research or study abroad.

Merit finalists who are not residents of the state of Florida will receive $40,000 over four years: $9,500 each year, plus $2,000 for undergraduate research or study abroad. Out-of-state Merit finalists will have their out-of-state fees waived.

Students must take the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in the junior year of high school to compete for a National Merit scholarship.
UF is really very serious about recruiting Nat'l Merit students. In addition to the money, they have a full-time guidance staff that does nothing but cater to the academic needs of NM kids. NM kids also get first pick of classes after the football team (there's not usually a lot of overlap there, so nothing to worry about) and priority when it comes to on-campus housing. I wound up having to go with UF over more "prestigious" schools out of economic necessity (it was a question of coming out with money in the bank versus coming out owing more than the price of a house). I definitely made the right decision--eight years later, it's crystal clear that my friends who went to private schools got exactly the same education but paid a lot more for it. If anybody has any questions about UF, please feel free to email me at mbarrett@grammatix.com .

I'm going to UT and I know for a fact that they don't really give out "full-ride" type money for merit. It is probably because everyone with high scores goes there anyways without regard to money. (Like me). =(

My friend was a semi-finalist (could be a finalist too) and he got a full ride at UF. But he's not going there.

UT doesn't give full rides, per se, but by filling out the scholarship application, you become eligble for many scholarships given by the unversity, various departments and some alumni groups. The NM package at UT is what I described above.
