Do international students ever have a chance for a full ride?

Short answer: No, we do not offer full rides to international students.

Long answer:
"As far as our policies on financial aid for international students, Johns Hopkins does offer renewable scholarships and need-based financial aid available for enrolling freshmen who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Due to limited funds, all types of assistance are awarded on a competitive basis and are highly selective. Approximately 10% of the incoming international freshman received need-based scholarships. The average scholarship is $25,000, but individual amounts can be more or less, depending on the financial need of the student. We however will not award full aid packages.
Admissions Daniel,

If I do agree to not apply for financial aid and choose to finance a JHU education at my own cost, will I still be eligible to apply for the many scholarships JHU offers?

By the way, I'm a Canadian citizen.

All freshmen applicants including international students are eligible for merit based scholarships offered by the JHU Admissions Office. There is no separate application for any of these scholarships. More information can be found here: http://apply.jhu.edu/finaid/scholarships.html.

Do note that we do not offer "many" merit scholarships. Only about 100 total merit scholarships will be offered to our admitted class.
