I will graduated from high school in January. I have only taken 8 high school classes ever, all the rest were college classes (no AP). I just took my ACT's and got a 31. I will be 17 in March. I have a GPA of 3.8 What are the odds I can get a full ride somewhere? Thanks for your help.

What is your EFC? Were you a national merit finalist?

Hi,

There are very few “full rides” (tuition, room, board, books) anywhere without being a National Merit Finalist or having like an ACT 35+.

However, with an ACT 31, you might be able to get free tuition at some schools.

Can you and your parents pay for room, board, and books?

Tell us more.

Are you home-schooled or what?

Do understand, that whatever scholarships you’ll get, they will be for NEXT FALL…not for spring semester.

That’s not a bad thing. You could work in the meantime (don’t take more classes after you graduate!) and start as a freshman in the fall.

You can’t take classes after you graduate because that could nullify your scholarship.

My son will be going to Troy Unversity with a full ride next fall. On the SAT he made a 780 in Math and a 710 in English. He has taken all AP classes and has a 98 avg UW.He is going to major in Music ED. He wants to be a High School Band Dir.

Looks like you could get a full ride at Troy U.

I started college the summer after 8th grade. My high school said I could graduate from there as long as I took at least two classes a year there. I have only had 8 high school classes ever, the rest I took at college. My GPA at both high school and college is 3.8 I will have 65 college credits at the end of this semester (no AP classes all college classes). I will graduate from high school in January. I will graduate 1 1/2 years early. I will be 17 in March. I did not take my PSAT - my Mom told me too, but I had a college class and didn’t. My fault. My ACTs were 31 in October.

My parents are older, so I really would like not to burden them with significant debt. They can pay for some. Ideally I would love to go back East to school. Some small private college. My major is biology. I am thinking about medical school or law.

Thank you all for helping me out.

I wonder if taking 65 college credits would make the OP a transfer student?

It probably wouldn’t in this poster’s case. Taking the classes at a college as a means of fulfilling his/her high school graduation classes is treated differently than actually being a fully admitted student at the college.

My son had 40 college credits from classes he took at the local public univ. before finishing high school (he was homeschooled, so homeschool/high school), and he started as a freshman when he went away to college.
