I need a full ride scholarship, or darn near close to one. I live in Michigan and i really want to pursue engineering. Everyone always fills my head with ideas about how I'm "so smart" and stuff, but I don't see myself actually getting a full ride anywhere. I would apply for financial aid, but my family looks good enough on paper where we wouldn't get anything.

I took the ACT and got a 33, with a 35 on english and a 36 on math, I'v taken 6 AP classes, chem, physics, lit, lang, calc bc and government and i have a 3.93 unweighted GPA. I played varsity track and soccer and am in NHS and have had several jobs.

Do i have any chances? Where do I start? What colleges should I look into?

Start by looking at the threads on this forum. See the one on this first page titled: Automatic Full Tuiton/ Full Ride Scholarships.

You can also use the Search function.

Be looking for schools with automatic qualifications or schools in your safety or match range.

Full scholarship to the University of Alabama. You’ve missed the priority deadline though, so if you want to apply, do it quickly!

Since you’d be in engineering, you’d also get an additional $2500 per year.

Sheesh, if you live in Michigan, why aren’t you looking at Michigan state schools? They’re some of the best in the country!

If you think U of M is out of reach (although I’d disagree), then try Michigan State and Michigan Tech. Both offer great opportunities for in-state students . . . and Michigan Tech really is an amazing, and underappreciated, resource! Take a look at Kettering also. It’s private and I don’t know what scholarships they offer, but it’s worth taking asking.

And, with your stat’s you automatically qualify for full ride scholarships at several out-of-state public universities . . . if you haven’t already missed the deadlines. Here’s the thread you need to be looking at - go directly to the last page (that’s where you’ll find the most current listing):

And I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but scholarship deadlines are EARLY, and you may already have missed many of them. If you’re serious about finding a full-ride, and you’re already a senior, then you might seriously want to consider taking a year off and applying EARLY next fall. Many of those automatic scholarships are GUARANTEED for a student with your stat’s . . . but only if you apply in time!

You may be too late for the Alabama scholarship.

Look to see what the Mich Tech deadlines are.

Also look at UA-Birmingham. They have a Dec 1 deadline, but they often overlook that for high stats.

Are you a NMSF?

Louisiana Tech would be a good financial safety - guaranteed full ride there if you apply by Jan 5.

I agree with others though - if you can swing Michigan, Michigan State, or Michigan Tech in state those are all good engineering schools.

Are you a senior? It seems pretty late to be just starting the search now?
