Full ride (tuition + room and board) scholarships/colleges

Hello CC members!

I am in desperate need of a list of colleges that offer full ride, merit-based scholarships! I am aware of the automatic scholarships thread and I have skimmed through it before. However, I do not have enough time to sift through the several pages that make up that thread! ~Excuse my indolence~

I do NOT qualify for any substantial amount of financial aid, so these types of scholarships are what I need!

I know of two colleges, University of Kentucky and Louisiana State University, that offer full ride scholarships (yes, I know that LSU is competitive) i.e. tuition, room & board, and some fees.

Stats if anyone wants to know:
GPA 3.9 (technically 3.99997 so....yeah)
most recent (and best) SAT scores:
CR- 720
M-760
W-770
Total- 2250

Any colleges come to mind besides U of K or LSU?

Thank you everyone in advance!

If you can make a 34 on the ACT, UA Huntsville has a full ride:
http://www.uah.edu/images/admissions/Financial%20Aid/Documents/scholarship.pdf</a>
(31 ACT is full tuition)

For reach level full rides, there are:
Robertson at Duke
Robertson at UNC Chapel Hill
Drake at Berkeley for mechanical engineering majors
President’s at Georgia Tech (note, there are two levels, full ride and full tuition)

If your goal is to be a military officer, there are the service academies and ROTC scholarships.

Some students have reported full rides or near full rides from their in-state public universities.

Alabama, Auburn.

Most of these are not completely full-ride, but they get you close. I’ll add to the list UT - Dallas and U Oklahoma.

How did you do on the PSAT?

“I do not have enough time to sift through the several pages that make up that thread!”

Sorry, but you have lots of time between now and August or September when you would need to start filling out those applications. Laziness will not get you the money you need. Diligence will. Any scholarship that we mention now may not exist by the time you do apply, so you really do have to do the research yourself, and you have to keep on top of these things.

momfromtexas wrote the book on finding full-ride scholarships. Read through her threads, and learn how to find them. Be warned though, these threads are even longer than that one that you claim to have too much “indolence” to read.

^ thanks, exactly what I was thinking. Getting good merit packages at all but the few colleges that buy specific stats will require hard work.

I am offended by your comment. I jocularly referred to myself as indolent. You do not know the terms of my request and I would respect it if you would not assume what date I need this information by. I asked this question because Collegeboard gave me four free score reports to send to colleges of my desire. Though I do not know when my free offer expires, I know that its expiration is fast approaching. Also, my limited access to computers hurts my ability to look through those kind of threads. I posted this to quickly learn of colleges that offer full tuition and room and board costs so that I could send out my free score reports in the time allotted by Collegeboard.

Regardless, thank you for posting those helpful links. I can assure you that I have an adequate amount of interest to entirely read through the threads and will do so when I have more than 30 minutes of computer access from a sluggish public library computer.

I received a 165 on the PSAT. Before taking the test, I did not realize how important it could be in receiving financial aid from colleges, so I did not study for it, and thus failed to reach the requirements for the NMS.

OSU, but it is rare. Presidential Scholarship = tuition, room, board + stipend.

USC has generous scholarships:

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/1213/uscScholarships1213v3.pdf</a></p>

University of Pittsburgh, Chancelor’s
University of Maryland, Banneker Key
University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Meyerhof

You’ll find a number of full-tuition scholarships that are guaranteed but few full rides.

Are you NMF?

Alabama, Auburn

Alabama NMF doesn’t include the meal plan, but does include full tuition and honors housing and other goodies. Bama’s NMF scholarships won’t change for the next app season, so that’s good news. The other university scholarships will also stay the same.

Auburn NMF no longer covers full tuition and is competive for OOS students. Don’t know if they’ve announced for next year yet to know if there will any further reductions.

USC (calif) offers “half tuition” scholarships for NMFs. Remaining cost would be about $40k per year. A lot if you won’t get any aid.

Edited since I now see that you’re not going to be NMF

If you’re not going to be NMF, then with your stats, Bama would give you free tuition. If you major in Eng’g or Comp Sci, then you’d get an additional 2500 per year. Total value…over $95,000.

This is ASSURED for your stats if you apply by Dec 1st. App goes live in July.

What is your situation?

Major?

How much will your family pay?

I suggest that you retest to increase your Math + CR…Bama often awards more money to those with very high M+CR scores.

OP is not NM. PSAT 165

UVA has the Jefferson Scholars program: [Jefferson Scholars Foundation | The Jefferson Scholarship](http://www.jeffersonscholars.org/undergraduate_program/the-jefferson-scholarship/) - it’s a full ride (tuition, room/board, books, fees, expenses) but it’s really competitive.

Jefferson requires a recommendation from the HS. Often the nominee is at the top of the class.

deleted…sorry

I’m in independent study through a public charter school that does not rank its students  How do colleges that look for students in the top x% handle my sort of application for x scholarship?

What is your situation?

How much will your parents pay each year?

If you need a lot of scholarship money to afford college, then…

1) Apply to some big scholarships like the Jefferson, but don’t count on winning.

2) Apply to some big scholarships that have ASSURED merit.

3) Apply to some schools that you could commute to…especially a few that will give you merit.

-My parents cannot pay anything, but my EFC is 50k+
-I have not decided on any major or what career I wish to pursue
-I live in Northern California, close to the Bay Area.

I am completely prepared to be rejected by every scholarship like the Jefferson. I am confident in my abilities, but I am incredibly under qualified compared to other applicants. I will apply though! I just wish there was a full ride assured scholarship. I qualify for many OOS scholarships that cover tuition, but it’s the room and board, books and supplies, and fees that will prevent me from ever attending…

Many many schools do not rank students anymore.

Well, there may be some full rides (or nearly) with high scores, but you may need to study and test again to further bump your scores. Take both the ACT and SAT.

You are only 10 POINTS away from a free ride to UAH…need a 1490 Math + CR. UAH is a very good school for STEM majors, business majors and a few other areas. The city is very nice and there’s an int’l airport just 5 minutes from campus!

For full rides, you’re going to have go down in rankings, but that doesn’t mean that the school isnt’ good. A school like Miss State awards lots of merit (more than tuition) for high stats.

I realize that your parents must be in some kind of financial pickle, but are you saying that they can’t pay ONE CENT? With an EFC that high, it’s hard to believe that they can’t pay a little bit…even for books and travel costs.

Work as much as you can this summer and save, save, save. You may even have to work 2 jobs.

UAB would also award you lots of merit.

Another tactic…test again, apply to some schools that will give you free rides and apply to some schools that will give you free tuition. THEN let the “free tuition” schools know about the big scholarships. I helped a student who had a larger scholarship to UAH get more money from Bama. But this has to be done early in the app season when the school hasn’t exhausted all merit.
