If you attend Pitt, will your parents put the difference in an educational fund to be used toward med school applications and med school fees?\

This is not really the question to ask. The parents have already indicated that the $20k per year for UPenn would be adifficult burden, so likely they’re not going to be able to create an $80k med school savings acct for this kid…not to mention that savings acct would reduce Penn’s aid anyway.
Instead I would simply ask if once in med school, would they be able to help with some expenses…cell phone, car insurance, perhaps a reliable car, health insurance, perhaps books/supplies, etc. there are a lot of expenses that re’t covered by a student loan. I had to buy my son another car when he was in med school because his old one was no longer reliable (his 16th birthday gift…lol)
Unless you have applied for other full-ride competitive scholarships and the results are still pending? Sounds like you’ve got some magic dust schools might definitely want. The offer from Pitt won’t go anywhere if you want to wait and see what the other scholarship competitions might come up with.
Otherwise Pitt is going to have some fantastic opportunities for you. They are building a huge new transplant hospital basically on campus. This is an offer that many here can only dream about at a great school. Congrats!
I’ve decided to change my Penn app to RD and apply for other competitive scholarships at BU and USC along with Harvard, Yale, and Stanford to compare financial offers. Thank you all for your help it means the world!!
@aangelis I clicked through the OPs previous posts. Stellar stats (ACT 34) plus this person qualifies as URM and Pitt has some scholarships set aside as diversity scholarships.
The other full-ride scholarships at Pitt are Chancellor’s scholarship (not announced usually until late March and April) and the in-state awards (Nordenberg and Stamps I believe).
There have been a few full-tuition awards to Pitt so far and they have ACT 35+ AND UW GPA 3.9 and above.
