^^ the ones who don’t have 2010 scholly info have mostly removed that link while determining what they’ll be offering. However, I’ve noticed that many schools have very recently put up the info for their 2010 freshmen - since people are applying NOW.

I got a 204 on the PSAT this year in MD. When can I expect notification for NHRP?

Last year GCs were notified starting in May. At that time they confirm Hispanic status and report GPAs.

Official recognition isn’t given until fall of sr year:

[National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP)](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Scholarships and Recognition with PSAT/NMSQT - SAT Suite)

Wait a minute, your posting history shows that you’re a sr this year, so you should have been notified in Sept/Oct of last year. If you didn’t self-identify as Hispanic when you took the PSAT as a jr, then you wouldn’t have been considered for NHRP. Some students who didn’t self identify were able to call NHRP and get recognition, but it is likely too late now, as the list of students has already been sent out to colleges.

We were not even aware of this program until this fall( my son’s senior year). I did not know my chid would qualify as a Hispanic Scholar( I know, sounds quite dumb) One needs only to be 25% hispanic. I never really thought about it…nor did my son’s high school councellor.

OK…found the NHRP info on the web. Initial contact was made through nhrp@collegeboard.org. WALAH! I was guided through the necessary steps to receive the award. The representative (I forget her name) was incredibly helpful. No doubt, they try to make this as inclusive a program as possible.

Lesson: Search. Ask Questions. Learn. Think outside the box. Don’t give up. You WILL find a way.

Yes! Students who didn’t check the box when they took the PSAT can correct that.

Lately, I’ve been worrying about my chances to receiving admission and scholarships from top universities. I am a national merit commended scholar and national hispanic scholar. I got a 32 on my ACT and am active in amnesty international, volunteering, math team captain, NHS…etc. Right now, I’m doing research at Boston University. I’ve heard that many universities scholarship cut off is 32/22, so what do you think is the likelihood of large scholarships? Should I retake the ACT, or am i set?

University of Alabama is no longer offering a full ride scholarship for National Hispanic Scholars. Just confirmed that with their scholarship department

I’m new to this and not sure if I’m going about this the right way. Has anyone heard cut off scores for the National Hispanic Recognition Program? Thanks!

^^go to the Hispanic Students forum (under College Admissions, Specialty Topics). Lots of information about scholarships, fly ins, summer programs, etc., as well as this thread with last year’s Regional cutoffs:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/hispanic-students/915179-nhrp-state-cutoff-scores-class-2011-a-2.html

Cutoffs change little from one year to the next, by a point or two at the most; people started to be notified about the 3rd week in April last year. You can also call up NHRP and they will tell you cutoffs once they’re available.

Don’t miss the NHRP scholarship thread that has a very comprehensive list of schools that offer merit aid for NHRP.
