Full Rides for Nursing

Hello,

I am looking for schools where I might be able to get a full ride merit award. I wish to major in nursing. Here are my stats:

Senior this year at a Newsweek top 20 school, USNWR top 10 school.
GPA: 4.0 Unweighted (our school does not assign weight)
ACT: 34
State of Residency (if it helps): Michigan

Class difficulty:
9th and 10th: All honors courses, all considered "pre-IB". I took AP Calc AB in 10th grade, received a 5.

11th: Full IB course load. 3 sciences: IB Bio, Chem and Physics. IB SL Math, IB Lit, IB History, IB Spanish, and TOK. Dual enrolled for a statistics class at a local university first semester.

12th: Same courses as 11th

Academic Awards:
Top Science Award
Summa Cum Laude

ECs:

MUN club president, many awards in MUN

Spanish Honors Society (Officer)

NHS

Science Olympiad Officer (Experimental Design is so much fun!)

Youth Symphony (next year is my 5th year, I'm the principle horn player)

Volunteer Work

Student gov (secretary for three years)

100ish hours of volunteering at nursing home

Youth Leadership Project: Investigated problems related to poverty, hunger, and
homelessness on a local and international level for the course of the year. It was thought inspiring.

Attended TASP this summer.

Any and all suggestions would be HIGHLY appreciated. Thank you!

Bump. Anyone? Would this be better in the college search forum?

Three threads that you should look at are:

Good luck!

Ever thought about the military?
You seem like you would be a great candidate for an Army or Navy Nurse ROTC scholarship.
The nurse programs are fantastic, you will get Nurse training in the summers and get paid for it. Grad school is also avaiable if you are interested in Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist etc.

I don’t know about colleges giving full rides specifically for Nurse majors. There are special Nursing loans out there and also some Nursing grants as well. These would be based on need.

The University of Pittsburgh, which has a fantastic nursing program, often gives full-tuition scholarships to those with SAT scores 1450 or above. With your 34 ACT, you would be in the running. Of course you still would have to pay room and board, but in the past nursing students have received additional scholarship money from the department. Worth checking out.

^ Thank you for the info! I finished an app to UPitt today, LurkNessMonster, per your suggestion. There are few words to express my immense gratitude for your guidance! Here’s hoping that it works out!

Best of luck! Please keep us posted. Pitt’s nursing program is wonderful, and you’ll work very hard! My daughter is a junior there (not in nursing, though), so let me know if you have any questions.
