I have been trying to find scholarships that award full rides to MSU, but so far I can only find the ADS one. Do they give any other full rides out? Are there any other scholarships they give out that are fairly substantial? I looked at their website but so far the only large one I have found was the ADS scholarship.

It looks like those are the only free rides, and the other scholarships are for lesser amounts?

Looks like those full rides are awarded to the top 15 students.

Are you instate?

What are your stats?

Are you in state? When my kids were in school, there was a valedictorian full ride available to each in state school … youngest graduated in 2010, so not sure if it’s still happening. D’s friend did not get the full ride, but she got A LOT of scholarship money, plus a paid research job with a faculty mentor. That’s in state, though.

Kels, I’ve never heard of that and I graduated in 09. Hmm…

OP, no, there’s not really. With that said, I go to MSU on a near-free ride (this year was the first year that I took out the full $5500 in subsidized Stafford loans… before that only an average of 3k/year). But I did it by piecing together outside scholarships, state and federal aid, and MSU scholarships.

If you’re at poverty-level income, you can qualify for the Spartan Advantage program, but outside of that and ADS there are no full rides without piecing together something.

It’s not something I have ever seen published, but my kids’ guidance counselors (two different school districts) mentioned it.

I am an in state student. I have a 4.0 (unweighted) GPA, 31 on the ACT, and I am ranked first in my graduating class.

Today I got a letter inviting me to the ADS competition. I know my chances of getting the full ride are slim, but what kind of chance do you think I have of getting any type of significant scholarship from that program?
