Has anyone received a full ride scholarship?

Please post the scholarship that you have received and how you have earned it. I would really appreciate because I want to be able to get my tuition paid for.

I am intelligent, dedicated, a minority, first in the family to go to college, and from a low-income background.

My stats:
4.0 GPA, took community college classes, 2230 SAT, 30 ACT, lots of extracurricular

I am interested in bio-engineering. I am not too picky with which university that I will attend. I will nearly attend anywhere if they pay my tuition! :)

Your SAT is higher than your ACT, but that’s fine.

There are schools that will give you free tuition, but it’s harder to find a “free ride” without being a national scholar. However, if you’re low income, a free tuition scholarship can be supplemented with other fed aid.

Did you take the PSAT? Since you’re a URM, are you a likely NH or NA scholar? What did you get on your PSAT?

Are you a junior? If you’ve already graduated from high school, it will be a problem.

As far as I know those two (UVA and UNC-CH) are the only publics that meet full need (especially for OOS). For other publics you’ll have to look at merit aid.

If you’re Pell eligible and in a state with decent grant aid, a full tuition scholarship may give you the boost you need to graduate with little or no debt. Start with the good engineering schools in your own state and expand from there.

OP, be SURE not to miss the opportunities that Questbridge offers to top low income students such as yourself. Register with them as soon as possible!

Wiith those SAT’s you can probably get a free ride at Howard and at Hampton - not sure if you are interested in HBCU’s but Howard is an exceptional school, in an incredible city with incredible internship and research opportunities. Sorry, but I don’t know that much about Hampton.

They only look at CR+M. What is your score on those 2 areas of the SAT?

Full ride includes everything at these 2 schools. Tuition, room, board, fees, and a stipend perhaps.

Also look at Questbridge - we did not qualify because of income but they list of schools that participate are strong and it is an amazing program.
