Does Harvard give out full scholarships? We were talking about college decisions today in school and a classmate of mine brought up that her cousin was given a full scholarship to Harvard (The offer happened quite a few years ago, I believe). Supposedly, she passed the offer and went to a low-tiered state university (University of Hawaii), as she didn't want to leave home, or the state. Now, this seems questionnable as she is quite ditzy (not stupid, far from it) but she seemed rather serious. So once again: does Harvard offer full scholarships?

I'm pretty sure they do. One of my friends got a full scholarship, but it was a couple of years ago.

harvard only offfers scholarships based on financial need

omg! crazy! that girl went to my high school! not kidding...wow, that's really weird that it's here on cc.

she did get into harvard. according to my english teacher, she sort of applied as a joke, just to see if she could get in. she received a full scholarship because of her family's financial need. she passed up harvard's offer to go to university of hawaii-manoa on the regent's scholarship, which is a four-year, full tuition, room/board, and monthly stipend scholarship. although it's not harvard, it is in hawaii! she's off to georgetown law next year, is the latest i heard.

Wow! Really?! What was her name? What high school did she go to?

It is based on financial need.
