Essay- about the difference between being a musician and being a performer (musician thrives on passion and performer thrives on pleasing an audience) and how I can't b e one without the other

Do I have a shot at any? Thank you!!!

Yes. Best of luck. Fordham is a very very special place.

thank you … anyone else?

Sure thing. I’m in the FCRH honors program and know at least a couple people on the NHRP scholarship (neither is in honors). Your stats look good, but admission to honors is based heavily on what the committee thinks you’ll contribute to the program. So letters of recommendation matter a great deal, as does your application essay, insofar as they’re looking for a certain depth of thought.

Or are you looking at the Gabelli honors program? That’s a whole 'nuther kettle of fish, and I don’t know what, exactly, they look for there. Everyone I know in GBHP does have great stats, as good as yours or better.

You seem to do an incredible number of extracurriculars…if you do end up at Fordham–especially in FCRH honors–you’ll thank yourself for building time-management skills; we sophomores have seven or eight professors’ classes to deal with this semester.

@anglegrinderman- I’m not looking at Gabelli; I’ll probably go in undeclared but I’m considering liberal arts majors like political science, history, economics, philosphy etc…

My letters of recommendation are good, though I haven’t seen them…one from my guidance counselor, two from teachers who gave me tuition scholarships at my school.
I’m a little concerned about the essay…will writing about music be a negative? I want to show depth of thought and the passion for music that is represented in my ECs but since Fordham has no supplement essay I’m concerned the adcoms won’t learn enough about me from the essay.

I am so very interested in the honors program, as I’ve heard amazing things about it.

My DD is a freshman at FCRH in the honors program and is very happy. The classes are interesting and challenging. The students are very intelligent. She loves the community that is developing among them.

I’m not sure what they look at when they decide who to invite to the honors program, but anyone looking at my D’s high school transcript would know that she was a humanities - social science type of student. Almost all of her APs and electives were in humanities or social science courses. It seems as if they want students who are interested in humanities and social sciences.

Perhaps I should have known from your handle that you weren’t a business-major type…

Make sure you write your essay about yourself. If you do this vis-

@anglegrinderman This is a little unprecedented, but would you mind me PMing you my essay at some point? I’m refining it now (mere days before the EA application is due, I’m cutting it close.) I would appreciate the help so much.

I will definetely sent the program director an email after submitting the application.
