Full Tuition Scholarship

Hello everyone,

Congrats to everyone admitted to the University of Pittsburgh. I've read a lot of posts from people who got full-tuition scholarships to Pittsburgh (and are up for the Chancellor's) with similar stats as me. I know that with scholarships, Pittsburgh doesn't give them first come first serve (as they do with admission), but I know a lot of people who got full-rides said that a week after they were accepted they received news about scholarships.

I got into the school the 26th, and its been a week, but I haven't gotten any news about scholarships (but I did get in the honors college)

I'm thinking maybe because the past week was still the holiday season, this may explain the delay, that might be the reason, but still I'm worried.

So any full-ride recipients, if you could tell me when you were notified of receiving a full-tuition scholarship to University of Pittsburgh (the main campus/oakland) within receiving your acceptance to the school (and maybe your stats too!)

Thanks so much!

Here’s my answer from the class of 2015 Thread
I’m not sure if timing stays the same throughout the application period and I would add a week because of the holidays. Best of luck!

Just remember that there is no guarantee that everyone with “similar” stats will get the full tuition scholarships. If you read through the previous scholarship threads, you will find that students with “better” or “similar” stats have not received the full tuition scholarships and students with “lesser” stats have received the scholarships. PITT never states exactly what they are looking for and it is hard to say why one student gets the scholarship and another doesn’t (similar stats) but they tend to favor OOS students.

I do hope you get good news soon :)

I’m an OOS student too, from Illinois
hopefully these stats will be in my favor, as they did for many lucky students!

TitanMom16, congrats to your son! :)

Thank you both for your support! I’ll post if I get any scholarship

For me, it ended up being almost 4-5 weeks later. But I live in Texas, so I always get mail really late from them. For example, I got a letter about GAP yesterday that said I should being getting a similar email within a week- I had received the email 3 weeks ago lol.

Hey everyone,

I received my notifications to apply for Chancellor’s in late December, so I’ve already finished it and sent it in. I was accepted in October though, so I didn’t get the notification until a while afterwards. In the letter I was told I had received a 12,000 per year scholarship - is that full tuition?

I also got an invitation to apply for the guaranteed admit program to the med school in late December. Has anyone gotten that or knows about how many people total are invited to apply?

The letter should state you received “full tuition”. Full tuition for OOS is around $26,000/engineering and for in-state approx. $15,000/engineering. The tuition is different depending upon which school you attend with nursing being the most expensive. Also the full tuition scholarship covers all tuition increases so they don’t state the exact amount since it will change every year.

Has anyone heard back about the Chancellor’s Scholarship yet?

^^^ You might want to start a new thread called Chancellor’s Scholarship. Just a suggestion.

Lurkness-- great idea…we had one and it turned into a discussion on Tulane I’ll try to resurrect it.
