Full tuition scholarship

Hi
I am an International student.
SAT score: 2010 (M 760 CR 610 W 640) (M+CR 1300 in one sitting)
TOEFL: 103/120
GPA: 3.8-4.0
I want to major in Aerospace Engineering with full tuition scholarship.
List of colleges suitable for me will be helpful.
Thank you

How much work have YOU done to come up with a list of schools that will be suitable for YOU? What schools have you considered so far?

If u had a 1400 CR+M score to go along w your > 3.5 GPA, u would have qualified for an automatelic full tuition scholarship at Univ of Alabama.

But I think the deadline for application has passed.

I came up with UA and UAH which require 1330 and U Miami which does not require SAT for international students

There are some Universities like Florida A & M and North Carolina Central University which do not have a course in Aerospace Eng

?

Can you give the breakdown results from each SAT that you took?

CR 510 M 620 W 640
CR 540 M 760 W 560
CR 610 M 670 W 540

Where do you plan to work with a degree in aerospace engineering?

The jobs in the US, in this field, typically require US citizenship for US security clearances.
After receiving a degree, most students return to their countries for employment. US immigration rules are really strict and finding a job would be difficult for this major if you are not a citizen.

You do not have high enough scores for full tuition at UA. They do not super score and out if state applicants need a 1400 CR+M. The deadline for application was Dec 15. http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/out-of-state.html

UAH also only uses scores from one sitting, no superscores. However, with UAH you can submit test scores all the way through to the end of your sr yr. http://www.uah.edu/admissions/undergraduate/financial-aid/scholarships/merit-tuition-scholarships You might be able to pull up your score.

I want to work in US and would like to know about the job oppurtunities for international students after graduation. I am aware of the fact that it is difficult for international students to get a job in any US aerospace company. What are the chances if I graduate with good gpa ?

What are the fields in US with good job oppurtunities and salaries ?

Your job opportunities here will be VERY limited after your graduation…because you will be attending college here on a student visa…not a work visa. In addition, as noted, jobs in this country in aerospace engineering require high security clearances…and are not typically given to international applicants.

Thumper is right. You won’t have the right visa to work here. And eng’g positions often only hire those with citizenship or at least green card status because of security issues and concerns about proprietary information.

Please suggest any other majors which can provide good job oppurtunities and salaries.
Help would be appreciated.

Good opportunities and salaries for working WHERE? What country are you a citizen of? What are jobs that are in need of employees there?

I am an Indian aspiring to work in US

Listen again. If you come to college here, you will not likely be permitted to go straight into a job after college graduation. You will be here on a STUDENT visa, not a work visa.

@happymomof1 do,you have information on students who wish to transition from student visas to work visas after college graduation? I was under the impression this was not easy to do…and took time.

I’ll apply for H1 visa after I get a job after graduation.

1° if your goal is to work in the US, you WILL NOT get a student visa
2° right now, working in the US has become a matter of luck. It’s highly unlikely that you will be able to. This has changed in the past 10 years or so. Some fields hire more internationals than others (if you speak Urdu AND Hindi well, and major in some business or tech fields, you may have an advantage) but for all employers, even if they WANT to hire an international, it’s become so difficult due to the hijacking of H1B visas by offshore companies exploiting loopholes, that legitimate companies that want to hire legitimate prospects often can’t. If your goal is to work in North America, look at Canada.
3° YOU can’t change your visa after graduation. Only an employer that gets government agreement can. You can only apply for an H1B if you have a job where the employer is willing to pay $$$ to sponsor you in the unlikely event they’d be able to secure one. The one-year supply of visa is exhausted in a few days in the Spring because of the offshore companies hijacking the process. YOU cannot affect this in anyway.

You can’t just “change” your visa – and YOU can’t apply for an H1B visa.

In order to work here, you would have to find a company willing to sponsor you for a temporary work visa (H1B). There is a limited number of these visas each hear, and they’re difficult to get: the employer has to prove that there isn’t enough Americans willing to do the same job. It takes a long time and a lot of money, since the work is done by high-priced attorneys. The visas are usually for 3 years, and may not be renewed - so you’d have to return home to India.

That said, your best bet for working in the US after graduation would be, probably, to study computer science. Programmers seem to have a better chance for H1B visas in big companies.

Read posts 17 and 18…and read them more than once. YOU can’t change your visa into a work visa.
