Full-tuition scholarships at Cal?

Are there any full-tuition merit scholarships at Cal that cover all 4-years? Merit-based??

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/534731-merit-based-scholarship-berkeley.html

Hope that helps.

The short answer is ‘No’. Cal and UCLA do not offer full tuition merit scholarships.

If you earn a Regent’s AND have financial need, Cal will waive the loan portion and give you more grant. But if you are full pay, the only alternative is other outsides scholarships, which includes those offered by Cal’s Alumni Association (which are considered outside scholarships).

If you’re interested in biotech, the Jacobs Scholarship at UCSD is a good deal (full ride and good program).

Oh okay, thanks, all! @sunfish: Wow, that’s amazing! Is that mainly for engineers though? And do you know how competitive it is?

Jacobs is for engineering only. It’s more competitive than Regents.

Sure are. I remember a guy who not only had mediocre high school grades, but also had to take the SAT multiple times to even be eligible to come to Cal. Heck, he wasn’t even from a disadvantaged background, having grown up in the posh Oakland Hills. Nevertheless Cal gave him a full merit ride with stipend.

Of course it should be said that he now plays point guard for Dallas and in a few days will likely be competing for the title. His talents are therefore surely merit-worthy.

to be fair sakky, one has to remember that Jason actually worked for his ‘scholly’ - he had to coach the team from the floor! :D

i couldn’t find anything on the selection process or announcement for UCSD full-tuition scholarship mentioned above - Jacobs/boengineering. can someone post a link. from what i found, they are raising funds to do that. have they been giving them out, how many etc. would be helpful to know.
