Full Tuition Scholarships?

Top 2% end up getting it I think. I remember hearing its something like 30-40 people, but I could be wrong.

about 100 people

Carl S. Ell Scholarship (full ride, top 1%) = avg weighted GPA of 4.21
SAT (Middle 50%) = 1400-1490 (M+V)
NEU gives out about 50.

Ralph J. Bunche Scholarship (full ride, top 1%) = avg weighted GPA of 4.15
SAT (Middle 50%) = 1330-1520 (M+V)
About 25 available.

Reggie Lewis Memorial Scholarship (full tuition, top 2%) = avg weighted GPA of 4.18
SAT (Middle 50%) = 1330-1430 (M+V)
About 30 are awarded.

Dunno about the other scholarships like the Torch scholarship. And I'm 99.99% sure that RD applicants are eligible.

wow thanks for that falco. Ive been searching for info like that. But keep in mind all, those were probably last years or something, so with the evergrowing applicant pool, the credentials are probably raised. Still praying!

Yeah, with 35k+ applicants, I'm sure the standards are considerably higher.

Can't hurt to hope though. :P

would the applicant pool be limited to only students that are accepted into honors ?
I have rec'd conflicting answers to the stats.

ya i doubt im gettin one...frankly i dont have a clue why i got 16k my stats are so avg

wow yeah i have been looking for stats like that too. thanks! my sats are in the lower end )=. fingers crossed.

and yes reg decisions are definitely considered, hence waiting for distribution until march (supposed to be end of February originally, i guess because of the increase in apps).

Well, according to NEU, the honors program = top 10% and the full ride/tuition scholarships are only available to the top 1%/2% of applicants.

Although, the scholarships do have a wider range of criteria, but I'm not sure how good your chances would be to receive one if you weren't admitted into the honors program...

I havent received my admission decision yet, and I am really hoping that I get one of these scholarships. My SAT scores are in good shape, and I have good EC's.. ~Fingers crossed~

anyone hear?

I just received an e-mail from the Dean of Admissions that I received an upgraded scholarship (Carl S. Ell Award). It's located in the decisions website.

Details and stats later when I get home.

Here are my stats for future reference:

Other:
-I Received a $16,000/yr Dean's Scholarship when I was accepted in December
-Admitted into the honors Program in December
-Very Strong Mid-year Grades (All A's: A First for me)
-Wrote an additional letter along with the mid-year report stressing my intimate knowledge of the strengths of NEU (through my late father) and detailing whatever other activities I had been participating in during Senior Year (See above). Specifically asked for additional consideration for the Ell, Bunche, and Lewis awards.
-Did not attend February Admitted Student Day
-Did not apply for Financial Aid

My thoughts: I consider myself to be a pretty strong applicant in general, although probably not strong enough to get into the really selective schools (Harvard, Stanford, etc.), as I was deferred from Penn (Wharton). Not that that matters anymore with this fortunate turn of events :D Probably the best part of my application is the test scores. While I am slightly weak in the class rank and EC's departments (nothing really special, rank is relatively low), and i'm sure that there are applicants with much better stats/EC's than I, I think it was the mid-year letter of passionate interest that really helped tip me in, although I can't be sure.

If there are any other things you want to know please ask as I would be happy to provide additional details. I remember trying to scour these boards before I applied in a desperate effort to glean whatever I could that would make me more competitive.

Congratulations, Lucaskhan !!
You and your parents must be very excited.
