How many classes do you guys take for "fun". Classes that aren't required, because I really want to do some astro, psych, or humanities classes but am unsure if I'll be ever to do that because of the supposed rigor of engineering classes and my assumption that I'll be doing some form of work-study all 4 years.

econ 101 and 102 are fun and practical if you like. free gpa boosters too

Are we talking about the same econ 101 and 102 here? Because umich’s econ 101 and 102 are not free gpa boosters, haha.

Yea from what I’ve heard isn’t econ 101 a weeder course?

They’re not difficult, despite being weeders. Probably still easier classes out there though.

From what everyone has said to me, Psych 111 is super easy.

that’s what everyone says, ,but both courses are very manageable since there are no homework at all and 1/4 of the class gets A’s i think…

How many credits do you have coming in? If you have very few to start, it’ll be pretty tough to take a lot of classes for fun. It also depends on how many credits you’re willing to take per semester. Give us more info. You should definitely be able to take at least 1-2 “fun” classes every year.

I came in with 14 credits. My fall term is

Math 115
Chem 130/125/126
Eng 125
UROP

???

Are you in LSA and want to transfer to Engineering?

Yes I am LSA currently and hoping to transfer to engineering. I know for sure I won’t have much leeway for class selection freshman year.

Well, in that fall schedule you have 4 more credits which are already paid for. Why not throw a “fun” class in there? Other than that, that schedule seems fine.

What do you mean by they’re already paid for?

12~18 credits = same amount of tuition, so it’s already “paid” for.

Do you know what you’re going to major in yet? I’ve had enough space for fun classes with CS (foreign language, psych, humanities, etc). I’ve also found upper level CS classes to be easier than the lower level ones are, since most of them build on what you’ve learned during the previous years (your study habits will also probably be much better), so taking more credits later on - especially if the extra credits are for fun - is completely feasible.

what about geosci minicourses or aoss 101

What are some easy/fun humanities classes. Thanks to APs i just need 6 credits of humanities, with one three hundred level class. As for other credit i’ve got the first two math classes done but my calc three class didn’t transfer so i have to take that again. I also have to take the first physics again which sucks, third year in a row. I also have to take e&m physics again, but that couldn’t hurt
