Fun classes?

are there any truly fun classes at michigan?

thanks

the 1-credit dance classes are fun!

but yeah, fun is very relative...

you should PM Alexandre....

History of College Athletics

Shakespeare Seminar which also guaranteed student tickets to each of the Royal Shakespeare's company's performances.

There was a class on Cold War propaganda that I was really sad I didn't notice until most of the way through the semester.

My reading course for Representation Theory of Finite and Compact Groups was pretty awesome.

My name is dilksy and I'm an intellectual snob.

Michigan doesn't have fun classes! Even the classes I took that were supposed to be fun (Dinosaurs and Other Failures, Moon and Other Rocks, History of Porn etc...) were way too academic. At Cornell, I got to take Swedish Massage and Wine Tasting classes. Now those WERE fun!

Hey Alexandre, how bad was "Dinosaurs and Other Failures"? As a science flop I was considering taking that to meet part of my NS distribution. Obviously it'll change based on who's teaching it, but was it difficult (or worse flat out boring).

It was depressing. All those magnificent animals...poof! Hehe!!! Seriously, it was an easy class, but the curve was ridiculous. Anything less than 88% was a C.

if you're asian, you should definitely take 'Asian American History' with Scott Kurashige. that's probably my favorite class i took at UM.

any reason why we have to be asian? or would it just be more relevant to us?

any idea how Spencer,David Eugene is for Economics? >_> I have him 8:30 - 10

Cvjn, you "have" him (not "will likely have" or "hope to have"). Does this mean you were actually able to register already? Or did you just backpack that class? I'm asking because I've backpacked everything but didn't see a point in even trying to register until orientation...if I can get away with it though it'd be nice to know the classes won't fill up. Okay, Okay, so I'm antsy :-p

I envy you zuzu. Most of us went to college when we were too young to appreciate the unique opportunity that awaited us. Yes, most of us were excited and looked forward to the experience, but it was more a function of wanting to get away rather than a function of acquiring knowledge and learning.

Hey yeah can you register for classes before Orientation? Im sure of the classes I'm taking in the first semester and dont want them to get filled up:O!

I just backpacked it. I say I "have" him because there's a LOT of spots open, and quite frankly, I don't expect that many to be filled up for an 830 AM class if it hasn't already.

OK, I'll bite, what does it mean to "backpack" a course? Can an entering freshman backpack? How?
Thanks!

You can backpack, but you can't register yet. The kiddies in my registration group thought I was such a loser...

Okay Christine I gotta ask....why did they think you were a loser?

Cvjn, why would you ever sign up for an 8:30 class? You will regret it.

As for me, I will have no classes before 11 AM! I learned from that 8:30 Calc class last semester...

"OK, I'll bite, what does it mean to "backpack" a course? Can an entering freshman backpack? How?"

Backpacking is pretty much the same as registration, except it's not official. It's in the same place as registration on WolverineAccess, except a different tab up top. Basically, it allows you to plan out your schedule, see what it looks like, and have everything set up for your registration appointment. When you're able to actually register, you can go to your backpack, select a class, and click "register". This is a lot easier than individually searching for each one of your classes again, and trying to remember which specific discussion/lecture you wanted, etc.

I'm an Econ major, and that was the only Econ 102 lecture left. I know, it'll kill me probably, but I might as well take it.
