so from what i've heard about Pomona, it sounds pretty academically rigorous. I mean it sounds like an awesome school, but Im trying to get a sense about what the social life is like and what those sage hens do for fun. If anyone who currently goes there or is a grad (or I guess can be someone who just knows about the school) can tell me if people have fun there (opposed to always studying) and if so, what do they do?
thx

tac...lemme tell you something about Pomona. Academic rigor is what you make of it. As is fun. Pomona College buys beer for its students, sponsors 5 college parties, and is probably one of the most laid back campuses in the country. If you want you can go out to a sponsored event every night but Sunday. There is never a shortage of social events, and never worry about finding something to do.

my S just finished his freshman yr at pomona. he finds the classes challenging, but not impossible... and he finds plenty of time to have fun. first semester he hardly ever ventured outside of the "pomona bubble," but by second semester he was definitely bursting out through the bubble: beaches, las vegas, concerts, etc. seems like tomadog02 nailed it with "academic rigor (and fun) is what you make of it."

Pomona students definitely work hard but seem to manage to balance work and play quite well. There is always something going on on campus and administration caters to de-stressing students with ski-beach days, death by chocolate day, snow on the quad day and on and on. Add events at the other colleges, nearby beaches, LA events, outdoor adventure trips and there is always something to do .

Just to add to the above posts, keep in mind you have 5 schools immediately adjacant to each other and the activities of those 5 schools to choose from. Between the 5 schools there is also 2 separate athletic departments and their games, etc. Los Angeles and Pasedena are very close by. You'll have fun.
